Looks like the official word is initial deliveries of the first 3 focal lengths to happen this year. 25 and 100 to ship early 2014. Price is still officially about $4K USD per lens. Will know more once lenses actually go to production for real. Should be very soon. Got this as the "official" word from another dealer. I also see that Matt Duclos has updated his blog with essentially the same info.

and now we continue to wait... I'll see if Matt has any more info to share.

For all those who are interested: the PL mount is user exchangeable. So if you want to start out with say a canon mount (which look great btw) and upgrade later on, this is possible. It will probably set you back a little bit for the mount, but you don't have to buy a new set.

That said, they suggest you having the mounts changed by a service center / someone with a collimator or Schneider themselves. But that's still a good thing to be able to do.

Man, I have both the PL and canon mounts for my EPIC, but i must say, its becoming a hard decision to commit to either a PL or a EF mount lens. This is a good thing to have, but are people starting to prefer EF mount lenses to PL mount lenses these days? Has that equation started to shift at all?

Everyone,

I've updated the list into two categories: Very Interested and/or Committed and Intrigued.

Please check and make sure I've got you down for the right column. If not, please PM me with the correction :)

Could be that the wides turn out a bit more expensive from what the mumbling would suggest... but the $4K / €3K for at least the first 3 has been mentioned at the booth as well.

Interested in the 5 lens set (EF/PL Undecided)

I think the EF / PL thing will continue to go back and forth.

PL is more stable, but the Schneider EF is awesome! That thing looks rigid as hell.

EF delivers good lens data - Angeniuex new 25-250 (what a sexy monster!) has Panavision, Canon EF or Nikon F mounts optional (user exchangeable) AND delivers lens data with ... wait for it .... info going to the camera AND the monitor (if it supports the signal) you also get total depth of field (far - near range) and hyper focal info along with the current lens settings.

So what I think might happen: you just get to live with the choice... Have a camera with a certain mount: change the ones on the lenses. Have certain lenses with a fixed mount: change it on the camera. At least the last option is thanks to our beloved Friends at RED. They started that... and I would even go further and say that that also added to the EF Mount decision for the pro lenses. Along of course with the canon c cameras and their DSLR video options

In the end: the user wins :)

If I only shot Red with the Schneider set I would pick PL, BUT since I may sometimes breakout my 11-16 or 70-200 EF to use in conjunction or get asked to use a 5D or other EF mount camera from time to time EF makes sense. There is something nice about being to share the lens set across multiple platforms or cameras allowing a B or C camera to use the good glass. But my Ti PL mount is just so pretty :)

More fuel for the Xenon fever.

I'm interested too! Just want to wait for some tests, but I really like the idea!
EF mount.

Intrigued...
