  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Schedule and Machined EPICs...

SSD mags will be more as well, as they will be machined for this first batch. Wait till you see these machined SSD mags...

This suggests that production model 1.8" SSDs and the Red One SSD side module will not be available this year. :frown5:

Is that true?

The Brain is the default part of the Brain. Just like on the Red One, the side recording module has always been extra.. be it CF or SSD.

This was the post that made a lot of people (someone else pointed me to it) think that SSD was now part of the brain and not an add-on

http://www.reduser.net/forum/showpost.php?p=674597&postcount=255

So it should be clarified when new literature is put out that SSD is a mandatory add-on for $1500.

How goes the progress on making SSD media?

Any idea when Red One SSD side module will be available? And media?

A few questions, slightly revised from my earlier, now buried post.

1. So this is an entirely separate purchase than my EpicX #27 stage 2 that I have my deposit on? Meaning I could buy an Epic-M in Dec (or Jan) and then also get my Stage 2 #27 in Feb?

2. What modules are available with this? Or is it effectively just brain and a side handle?

3. For someone in my place (<100 #), EpicM sounds like literally just a 30 day advantage (Jan instead of Feb), am I reading that right?

Thanks!

Thank you Jim and all. Thanksgiving day is now complete. Have a great weekend, don't work too hard...

Shawn... it is clear from that post that Jarred said the Side SSD is the default side module. It is not part of the brain.

The EPIC-M will be sold as a brain and then accessories. EPIC-M is not the budget model... :-)

Jim

Sorry if this has been asked already but is it at all possible that by the time the production units are shipping that the other modules (especially the pro ones) will be ready ie. I/O, rear ssd, rear battery, wireless vieo assist?

Thanks Jim. It wasnt clear to me before but now it is!

Did you see my 3 questions? If you are up for it, I'd love to know!

Funny that instead of lounging around, we're all on here? Heheheh! A GREAT post Thanksgiving!!

Side Recording modules, since day 1 of RED, have always been separate.

Brain is the Brain, Modules are Modules. We never had put out any literature suggesting otherwise.. in fact, in all our announcements, in both posted and PDF form., pricing for side modules were clearly pointed out, separately.

We just took $1000 off the Side SSD module price.. I thought you of all people were going to be happy :)

Look forward to here and read more about the details, but I guess I jumped on board too fast do to the over excitement ;)

Might still need to leave some funds for the new Studios in Italy ;)

Nonetheless I'm stil very much interested to see if I can get an Epic-M (or what ever you will ended up calling them).
