This has probably been discussed before, but I need a quick answer and dont have time to go searching for it? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Does it worth it? Seriously, get some "spare rebel" for $500 - don't use 20K camera for time-lapse - it is totally overkill!
I use 1 fps on the scarlet a ton. I do like my canon's for time lapse, but I prefer the red for these reasons:
1) I don't have to hear that shutter go every second ... red is shutterless (that shutter can wear out ... plus hearing that click every second get's on my nerves, my 5d is loud)
This is the best response. I still do some timelapse stuff with my 5D Mark II, but the Scarlet is a fine tool for the job as well and having footage in the same format is nice.I did some timelapse work in Austin on the Scarlet to mix and match with normal speed material. There's a few advantages. Having the sequence as a .R3D is one of them. I do this work in DSLRs often too. Just depends.
It's possible. Like stated before 1 fps works pretty well. I've done multiple time lapses with it at 5k.
Some of these points are good ones, and I've not said once said that Scarlet cannot be used to create excellent time laps, but to justify things like "the shutter sound is annoying" and trying to convince me that a $20k camera is the answer is what bugs me. The final result is what I'm interested in, and for $500 (rebel t2i with magic lantern) I can do better than I could with my Scarlet. That's my point.

I can only get mine to do 8fps at 5k. How do you get 1fps?
