  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Scarlet-W has Begun...

My rep says I've been allocated, but my account in red.com doesn't reflect that. Is this normal?

It is a MASTERPIECE!!! Finally my Scarlet is in my hands. Thank you RED team for this amazing product! I always wanted to shoot RAW and now I can in 5K@60fps. Unbelievable! Thank you guys. Cant wait to try this beast :)

Been waiting almost a month now since I have been allocated. Got allocated on 10/17, and paid shortly after... then waited another week and half for some billing error which was quit obvious and finally they came back with "Our bad it was a system error". Two phone calls in this week and no one has gotten back to me. I've been waiting since December 23rd- it's always something with this company.

Anyone get allocated or receive their camera this week or last week that hasn't been updated on the queue?

Yes, we are passing the 6-month mark this week. Our sales rep gets 0 info from RED. When I tell non RED-users about these "lists", deposits and the waiting they look at me and laughs. Maybe an App would be the solution. Customers could report progress, add various data based on "Recon" speculations etc. Or .. RED could estimate for us on a weekly basis. Try to live up to the "community" rep. with some sort of transparency and actually give us valuable info. A little respect for the customers and their investment planning would be nice.

Only Red can confirm with certainty on this part, but it seems that the Scarlet-W is Red's current first priority and Epic-W the second. My guess is that Red is shipping Scarlet-W as quickly as Dragons are arriving still.

Epics are in stock at maxx digital I believe, also I wouldnt be surprised if the price does jump a bit in the new year

Likely Epic-W>Scarlet-W>Raven based on the demand. If you order right now at full retail price you could basically get an epic-w right away.

Odds are demand for Scarlet-W is a lot higher given the 3x price jump for the brains... never mind that the Scarlet-W is basically the DSMC2 version of Epic Dragon... sure it's "only" 5K, but still fantastic camera.

Yeah I agree. The Scarlet-W still seems 'the best bang for your buck'... unless low light shooting is a must for you, then the helium is maybe the way to go. Personally I want slow motion (48/50 fps) at super35, without cropping. It's a bit of a pain at times on my scarlet MX where I have a shot lined up in 25 fps and then want to shoot slow motion but then crop to 3k. That's fine for 1080 delivery but it's the crop and difference in FOV I want to avoid. Sure I'll occaisionally shoot 100fps in 4k on the Scarlet-w but very rarely. There's a reason it's back logged so much. Red absolutely nailed the price to value ratio. Clients are loving pulling 4k, even 3k stills from Scarlet footage to use in online publications - 5k slow motion shot at 1/100 shutter will really take that up a notch though. Yeah I know there's more compression than weapon but it's still good.
