  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Scarlet-W has Begun...

Ive had the scarlet-w out 4 days now on a legit set. 3 of those days it was a b-cam to an epic dragon, and although i reviewed some of the clips I wasn't operating the camera, and we only recorded the R3D. Today I had the W out as the A-cam shooting prores along the redcode.. holy banana cakes, this camera is fkn amazing, and SOOOOOOOO silent. the 2k prores files look incredible, more than enough quality for projects that require a fast turn around. My client was blown away today.

Hi Mattew! Would be great!
Considering that you have both Epic and Scarlet-w, if you have a personal project which one would you use between the two for A-cam?

Great to hear that! I often need to do quck project and the pro-res if is great as you said, will solve me a lot of problems!

the pro res feature on these new cameras is going to be a HUGE deal for a lot of people a lot of the time i will hear " I would love to shoot red but the files are too huge" or "Red just takes too long" or " we don't have time to transcode dude"

not to mention with the new avid codec coming as well, this is going to be fkn insane

ABSOLUTELY...

i didn't even mention how nice the audio is now with the built in mics.. on my epic all i ever hear is fan, and a faint slate in the distance. DSMC2 fixes so many little annoying things i cant even list them all. one main thing on that list would be the I/O ports on the side of the camera rather than underneath...
 
Fans are loud as it boots up and then it's basically silent. When you have shot for a bit they go up, but nothing at all like the MX stuff.
 
Have any 'Raven pre order swap to Scarlet-W brain' customers with the initial deposit month of November been notified of allocation as yet?

i dont think they got past the first or second day of preordering yet, sept24-25th…i could be wrong but just going by reduser info.
