  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Scarlet-W has Begun...

Wait a sec, if you ordered a Raven initially and then switched it to Scarlet-W when it got announced, you got to keep your Raven order time stamp...?

EDIT: My rep was on vacation (or away maybe?), so it took nearly two weeks before I could even get the wire info. My actual allocation was on the first blast of emails. Red has things moving incredibly quickly once payment was processed.

Correct. So far the only S-W allocations have been from people that preordered a Raven within a few hours of its availability, then switched to S-W later.
 
Wow that's not cool... I ordered my Scarlet W right after it was announced but I guess I'm far back in line regardless.

it was a known fact repeated over and over again within minutes of the scarlet-w surprise announcement. then again about once a week on threads here.
remember this was going to be a NAB announcement, jarred let it out of the bag early, giving the raven preorders priority on switching. though i stuck with raven, i think it is very fair and "cool". better then not even knowing about it until NAB!
then sticking 1000's of people that would of rather had a PL mount camera with an EF only camera, imagine the uproar if everyone bought a raven, then there was no mention of a scarlet to one month after their ravens arrived.

Jarred also said there was going to be an update today, hopefully some news on the raven front too that is supposed to be 8 days away.
he must have A LOT to say if it's taking this late to say it! :)
 
I've heard that two batches of Scarlet-W have made their way out the door so far. Hopefully the next run will happen soon... Though it seems like Red is facing an absolute sh**storm of activity right now between upgrades and the release of two new cameras, so there are a lot of balls to juggle. Also, as someone who pre-ordered Raven, and switched to Scarlet-W... agree with what Jordan said. It would be a bitter pill to have the Raven show up and then get the news that there's a new kid on the block that fits the bill even better, for just a bit more cash. I think they did the right thing with the queue process - though I understand the dismay of people who jumped in on day one of Scarlet-W (with no Raven pre-order). Nobody likes to wait for their goodies.
 
Realistically people that have ordered just the scarlet w without a Raven order first and foremost will most likely be waiting until end of April or even May to receive the order. That's even if you ordered it within the first few hours or day of release. By the current flow of cameras going out we haven't even got past the end of September for Raven pre orders. Hopefully jarred will shine some new light on the situation at some point.
 
I wouldn't go that far. Thing is, we don't work at RED and we have no ability to foresee things in the future. When things pick up, which I'm sure Jarred is going to shed light on tonight, they'll begin munching away at the queue. Same thing for RAVEN. Slow start, gradual pick up which turns into a machine. Give them credit for knocking out these release dates. People have their W's and are satisfied with the product. And packages went out SUPER early.

Not so fast Raven guys ^^
From Brent a few days ago: "Some SCARLET DRAGON owners with SCARLET-W Package reservations have been blasted, yes."
Upgraders were promised some kind of priority, don't forget. So allocations are shared between switchers and upgraders.

though i believe those people also had early raven orders.

I would like to ask guys who have their cameras allotted what other accesories are required
to run the camera apart from batteries...

with the pkg you should only need batteries, but you probably want some more media, and it will run!

I've placed my order through my italian dealer for the base i/o package back in january, but still no news when it will be delivered :(
Talking about batteries, i've just purchased the blueshape bv90, they should fit the base i/o v-lock expander and work properly with the camera (finger crossed).
My dealer also suggested me the new dynacore slim, has everyone tried them already?
