Scarlet-W has Begun...

Just arrived, #185. I love the Scarlet gray case. And yes, the handle can mount from the rear. Unfortunately my one Anton Bauer digital v-lock 150 can't mount on the v-lock expander because the p-tap connector housing hits the expander. And my old Switronix L90S batts don't supply enough power (camera just powers off immediately). Oh well. I knew I needed new batts for this kit but I guess I'll have to order new ones sooner than I thought. So excited about this new system! Packaging and all is amazing. I am so pumped. Thanks RED!

oh awesome! im so glad it can be mounted on the back, backwards!
im not sure if i understand the the ptap connector hitting the expander comment.
also, for anyone, those side pogo connectors, they seem pretty exposed, inst there a cover to protect them? kind of weird if you are not using them to be exposed like that.

A few more pics. I was so excited by the RED packages that I almost forgot about the little WC box sitting in the corner. With the rod-mounted v-mount plate I'm good to go with my AB v-mount batt, but I also attached a few pics of the issue with mounting those batts directly on the expander. Still waiting on some WC parts on backorder, namely the front rod clamp for 15mm LW rods and top plate (also waiting on Lemo adapter from RED), so for now I can't mount my Alphatron viewfinder. But still, was able to achieve a nice balanced shoulder rig with this setup. 3d printed lens gear if anyone's interested. Will try to shoot some stuff tonight/tomorrow.

thanks! so do you have the wooden camera dovetail clamp directly on the camera, instead of the easy riser? and how do you have rods coming off the back?
i guess with that set up you can move the handle to the back mounts too.

I've got the dovetail clamp mounted below the Easy Riser, and a 15mm LW bracket mounted on the back of the Easy Riser. That clamp interferes with the dovetail movement, so I had to mount it upside down which blocks the vents a bit, but hopefully that's going to be ok. They're pretty much fully exposed. No cover for the pogo connectors included, but I might 3d print one.

im surprised they dont make one from red, or WC have one that is just that one piece from their top plate. i can see those pins getting bumped on a rough shoot! or just dirt in them, hmmm…

The pins are recessed so fairly protected from bumps, but you're right crud could get in there. I don't own a 3d printer myself but am a member of a makerspace (TechShop) that has 3d printers, laser cutters, full metal shop, wood shop, etc etc. Pretty handy to have access to this tech in our line of work.

Thanks for the info! Glad I made the right purchase Would you happen to know any good third party cages or quick release plates that might be suitable for the DSMC2 series? So far, the ones I've seen are from Woodencamera and an unreleased rumour from Movcam. Don't see much other options at the moment. The ones that are currently from Red are mainly for the older DSMC cameras I believe..

Same mounting points on bottom of original DSMC cameras and the DSMC2 line so all Quick Release stuff from RED would work...
