  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Scarlet-W has Begun...

I know it is a Captain Obvious statement, but remember that not all customers are on REDUSER. And when you are talking rental houses and dealers, very rarely. So our shipping and allocation cadence cannot be solely judged on posts here.

There is a certain dealer in Austin that I am getting my bundle from. I wonder when they are getting their allocations... I am a first time Red Owner and I'm falling out of my chair excited to be fully invested in this community. Special kind of thing coming from the top.

Last picture for now: wondering if anyone from RED can give me an idea as to whether this rod clamp blocking the vents is going to be an issue. I know, I know, it clearly shows where not to block, but still...Thanks guys.

that seems really menial, just as long the battery plate is a few inches away you should be fine. so is that mounted upside down?
wooden camera should make some back rod supports for sure!

I'm no RED mad scientist, but as an engineer, I would say that will hardly obstruct airflow.

Yeah it's mounted upside down. I'm thinking I'll cut a thin aluminum spacer plate to go between the Easy Riser and Dovetail Clamp so I can flip it rightside up again and not block the vents at all. It'll be a minor height increase, but that will raise the camera up a bit which would be nice to avoid.

you should show wooden camera the pictures and tell them what you are trying to do, they are really accommodating. i bet they come up with a fix that will help us all!

And my old Switronix L90S batts don't supply enough power (camera just powers off immediately).

Is that because they're old or because this type of battery doesn't supply enough power in general? I was looking at the L90S as my battery solution for Scarlet-W....

OK will do.

I have six of these of various ages, some pretty new, and none worked at full charge. So I think it's just the amp draw is too high for these batts. I think you can only draw about 7 or 8 amps from the L90S batts, so the S-W must need more.

Just received and built it.

My batteries say they're dead and the countdown initiates and then when it hits 0 it stays on and works normally.

I I think a firmware to accept these batteries is needed because it's kinda funny how it's powered on but the monitor reads 0 and the red light on the side is blinking.

What batteries are you using?

Brandon, you should file a support ticket on red.com, but, of course, being a third party battery, we will have limited knowledge of compatibility with our gear. Heck, I have never even heard of COMER...

Heh, I think COMER is just one of the many badges these go by. They worked great on the Scarlet MX so it's a little strange. I'll file a ticket.

Any idea where the Instruction Manual is for the Scarlet? I remember seeing a link for it awhile back.

In side news, I have the G-Tech Redmag Reader and I bought the Thunderbolt Rugged Enclosure thing...upon inserting the Reader into the Enclosure, I snapped the SATA pin somehow (there's really only one way it can go in)...whoops!

(EDIT)
Tried an AXRTEC battery as well and same thing.

ok, well it looks like you might be in the market for new batteries like a lot of us receiving our new cameras this month.

Brent/Jarred is there any possible way you can at least let us know what the estimated availability might be on the new RED batteries we keep hearing hints about.
this is really going to help out almost everyone, because if its 6 months from now, we might invest in other battery systems, if its 3 months from now we might not. this is a huge commitment and cost and it would just be nice to know to all what at least the plan is, no details needed, just a time frame.
the time is now, our new cameras are rolling in and we dont know what to do.

hmmm...we have several "RED" issues of these. Would love to find out if this is a firmware issue...or if these bats really won't be viable...

Dang, these battery issues make me nervous. I just got my Bebob's from Germany after a number of positive recommendations on Reduser from some prominent users. I hope they work on the new cameras.

If a V-Mount battery from a certain manufacturer is not working, can a firmware update from Red fix this? Or does the battery manufacturer have to do something on their end?

Why would Brandon's V-mounts which worked perfectly on his previous Scarlet, not work on the S-W? Is it firmware?
