  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Scarlet-W has Begun...

Pre ordered the scarlet w, the day after it was released in December. I'm guessing I'm gonna be waiting until March to get my brain only if people are still waiting who ordered Raven and switched the day after Raven was released.

My Scarlet-W is on a FedEx truck, scheduled for delivery to my office later today. Unfortunately I am stuck at home, 40 miles away, because of the 10" of snow we received overnight. Grrrrrrrr...

Trying to see how Betz allocated but I was not.

I'm also Scarlet-W Base I/O V-lock.

Lesson learned. When it comes to allocations and cues, keep your mouth shut.
 
My lucky number. I found a base expander on reduser so Friday I'll get to see how it does...

I have been having a footage using Scarlet Footage from a prepare camera native in premiere. Are you guys having that issue at all? I'm running the newest one.

nice to see the vlock expander in the wild, looks good, still might be the shortest and best option.
i still see that the new top handle is really not made to go in front of the smaller 4.7 inch monitor.
they should have it set up with the raven, v-lock and outrigger….then the scarlet, 7 inch and universal.

so they new WC battery plates throw me for a loop, i like AB mount, i like how they can be moved up and down position wise, but can you use one without and expander? and if so, there is no dc in on them? weird.
i also wonder the over thickness comparison to a v-lock expander and expander plus WC battery plate…guess we wont know for a while.
RED please release some cool low profile slim v-lock batteries and put an end to all this! hahaha!

Almost had to take a trip up there because of that damn storm, knocking out equipment, we got lucky and the gear came back online.

Don't take it that way, I'm just trying to find out what happened so if something is lost in the shuffle I don't wait too long to find out and get it corrected.

No worries at all Michael. Didn't take it personally, just got scared RED would realize they made a mistake and take my allocation back or something :) Hope you get your allocation soon. Excited to see what everyone produces with these new cameras.

:-) Don't think they would do that, in fact I would ask that they not do that - don't want to penalize people for sharing information which is what this forum is all about. Just please put me as soon as possible!

I think it would be awesome RED makes a V Mount RED BRICK Smaller For this new kinda Compact Weapon setup V I/O Base Expander. New Top handle friendly. All friendly... Happy Family! :)
 
I understand the Scarlet-W was painted gray to differentiate it from the Weapon on set, but why does it look SO much lighter than the promotional pictures? Is it the same color as the original Scarlet body?

Can we also update the cinematography tools section (Red.com>Learn>Tools)? I realize there will be very little change, but it would be nice to plug in various framerates and compression ratios for the DSMC2 line.
 
I like the color. Reminds me of the old Apollo Hasselblads.

Its grey so its going to look darker or lighter depending on the amount of light it is under.. it's why Grey cards are, well, grey :)

Here is a shot of Scarlet-x and Scarlet-W beside each other. They are not exactly the same grey... The W is a little bit warmer ( or cooler, depending on the light )

I'm late to the party and about to place my Scarlet-W order.

Can anyone (Brent@Red, Jarred, etc) confirm if the case (http://www.red.com/store/products/scarlet-w-package-case) does indeed come for free with the base I/O package? It will help me decide whether to go for that package or a la carte with the brain.

Man I love everything about RED.
 
Also, and I know this is a huge ask, but does anyone have a sense for when orders placed today will ship. Are we talking a few weeks, a few months....?
