  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Scarlet S35 is now...

IF they could make it between $8K and $14K ($12K would be very nice to me:001_rolleyes:) that would make an incredibly agressive price tag compared to the other camera makers.

For me, and pure speculation, the features would be :
- HDRx™
- 3 or 4K (what's the point if it is 5K as the big sister Epic X, plus they already have 4K MX sensors...)
...

Why on earth would the resoultion decrease? The price is going up, as in more expensive. Then why change the resolution when they keep telling us 4K is the future. Plus it is Epic now, and with great powers comes a great... resolution.

This is never going to happen Jesper. EPIC-S will be 5K. RED is always pushing forward.

Bigger size and more weight. Manufacturing in Asia would mean better prices. :(

Yes..manufacture in U.S will mean higher price but maybe not as much
as we stereotypically think..see Jannard's previous post. Rather combination
of factors..HDR..and component price inflation are involved.

People may overestimate brain price. Remember still have to add
EVFs and such..real question is how much a shooting bundle will cost..???..

The changes made from Scarlet S35 to EPIC-S are significant. It used to be on the original Scarlet platform and we moved it to the more comprehensive EPIC platform a couple of months ago. Big differences. Manufacturing in the US will cost more than Asia... but prices in Asia have also risen quite a bit in the last year or so.

Our biggest problem was announcing the program with one set of circumstances, being late... and the world changed. Jim

Depends on what you want. There are many options out there. Lenses can be expensive.
But you can double the price of the brain for an entry level rig.

4.5K if you like. (Red One MX)

The MX chip in the r1 is 5k, but the r1 can only read out unto the 4.5k frame size. Unless something has changed, the actual sensor in the MX R1 is the same sense as the Epic. So there is no MX sensor less than 5k.

Jim will be on vacation soon (He posted) so I hope before that he leaves us some surprises (infos). :) About the Scarlet Inter and Fixed because we have no infos about the ladies for a long while.

Sorry I didn't notice that.:cornut:

Which is weird, 'cause we don't have to say it's the 2/3" anymore... :p

Just mentioning the sensor dimensions and resolution, Joseph.
I know the models are 8X Fixed and Cinema Interchangeable...at the moment.

Unless I missed something but I never heard Jim say the Scarlet FF35 was out too?

Yeay! Two weeks have gone by :emote_happyhappy: Are we up for announcements tonight?

Yup!:emote_happyhappy:

Epic Light, Scarlet 8X and Interchangeable, news?

Epic Light, Scarlet 8X and Interchangeable, news?

called EPIC Light. The features have changed as has the price. I'll update in the next two weeks.

Jim

Jim can you give us the new price of Epic Light. Estimate shipping date?

Scarlet 2/3 Fixed and Interchangeable estimate shipping dates?

I really don´t want to buy a Panasonic AG-AF100 or a Sony PMW F3, so please release any Scarlet or Epic LT and I will buy it.

Thanks!

Best regards,

Juan

Other than some confirmation that they haven’t forgotten about it, we really don’t know all that much about the FF35 other than it is a fair ways off and will be built around an entirely different chip- so it could end up being called anything. For cameras that we know are ready for production it’s fair to say the Scarlet line is now 2/3 only. It may expand in the future, but as of right now Scarlet seems to mean 2/3.

… Here’s hoping for that update…
