  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Scarlet preview...

just read those specs - you gotta be kidding me - only overcrank is 60p limited to 1280*720 - ARE THEY FKING SERIOUS??? Surely I've read that wrong or DVinfo have it wrong???
 
Sorry no link for official stuff, it was from press release they said on another forum.

We're not seeing any of the grainy issues from the previous film. The Canon is strutting its stuff here.

No kidding, why would i spend 16k on 422 compressed crap? What a waste of a sensor.
 
hopefully (for Canon's sake) DVinfo has it wrong... $16,000 for something aimed squarely at the TV/Movie market, leaving out most of the indie film makers and event photographers... something's not adding up.
 
My money is still on the Scarlet hopefully they can seriously beat that price point.

Whats happening? to many threads all over the place tagged with Scarlet even in Recon. Is this the thread to chill in? Still no live link from the redstudio?

yeah imagine half the price, twice the quality. I hope so.
 
I bet Jim & the Red team are already disappointed Canon didn't step up. Limiting to 1080 and not even dual link 444? They're gonna stomp on their throats...no mercy.
 
So this is kinda funny (from dvinfo):

"Canon is careful to point out that the C300 is just it’s first digital cinema camera. Perhaps another model will follow later on, maybe with a new codec to manage something between 2K to 4K recording?"

Come on... 1080p? Congrats RED.

Maybe Canon will pull an Apple and do a firmware upgrade for full 4k recording later next year?
 
Yeah sorry but to me this doesnt even compete with the F3...So late to the party, over-hype and under-deliver. Yup thats the Canon I know!
