  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Scarlet preview...

Well, don't worry, now you are going to see poorly-shot videos in 3K from people who think that being able to spend thousands of dollars in a camera is going to make their skills magically better. Thinking that anyone is better than anybody else because they are able to shell out more money divulges a lot about the person making the statement. Just shut up and keep statements like this inside your brain. They are much better hidden there.

:------------ )

Camera instead of college? Good choice ;)

Somewhat kidding...I did that and it worked for me.

Ditto...now I have a ton of gear, experience, and a production company...oh and no debt...until tomorrow anyway!!!

I know every one is sitting waiting for a late night sneek peek post or some kinda sneek peek right now. i cant be the only one

.....Scarlet has been added to the list of "compatible devices" to the 1.8 SSD range of accessories on RED where it was missing before .... Sweet ;)

Good!

I don't see where you guys are getting all this info about compatibility, all the accessories in the store went "—" even the ones that were previously checked for EPIC

People see what they want to see....

Yep, this is definitely not it. Though apparently eight year old girls were greatly intrigued by it's showing, but they felt it needed to heat up quicker. More like a 7D. *snicker snicker*

Canon have already said this was just a design experiment. They just thought it was something cool to show. *Snicker* I spoke to a Beta tester out my part of the world way and he thought the new cam he used - F3 rival he said - will be great. I believe it will be good too. Just blown out of the water by RED. But great to have the industry moving in the right direction isn't it.

That thing is so funny…That’s the worst piece of design I have ever seen in my entire life. If RED had done that I would say exactly the same thing. The head of a Donkey and the body of camel and so on…

BTW I didn’t get the PM’s you indicate or cite so…So I did send my e-mail address to make thing easier. Sorry those communications appear to have gone up in smoke…

(Hope all is well),

Eric

Cheers Eric :) I sent you an email.

Yep the hairdryer was truly, truly funny stuff. I literally felt sorry for the Canon rep when I heard him explaining away that it was just one of many many designs that they create all the time. Just experimenting is all...

Just try and imagine some designer submitting that to JIM JANNARD to show at an upcoming trade show.
LMAO I'd pay fucking good money to see that!

Me too.

He, he, he,..

“oh ..it’s a camera…??”

It looks like something straight from the pages of Dr Zeuss…

As I always say, good design is no more expensive than really bad design.

That’s why people and talent actually matter.

Look forward to that.

Ta.

as for me now the challenge will be between red and ikonoskop ... the acam dII : a really deep uncompressed raw 12bits, 1080p, not a cmos but a ccd, no rolling shutter, 250 mb per sec... adobe cinema dng... for less than 10000 euros !!! well... tell me more about the scarlet... we have to choose now, because we want to work as well as possible ! - thanks for your work and give us facts for dreaming !

It's just too much fun to have the two events right after eachother. Bet the Canon people there will be watching RED after their presentations while biting their nails.

Hey look at Joseph Hutson - he invested in an EPIC M and look what happened to him ... already traveling around the world, gaining invaluable experience and I think even being paid for it. Seems like a better investment than film school to me. Jarred says his early work has paid back a substantial percentage of his purchase price, too.

Of course he really did his homework and earned it all fair and square - but I think a lot of people looking at today's incredibly overpriced educations should give his path a look.
