Is anyone else having problems getting an audio signal. I know phantom power has been disabled, but I am not getting any signal from the mic inputs for any mic I have tried. I have gone into the menus an enabled the channels, and messed with setting but nothing. Anyone else having this same issue?

Thanks,
Will

I'd check the device/mic you are recording from first. Then check the cables. I've been able to pipe audio in without a problem.

Thanks guys! I still can't get anything. Tried several mice and cables. I'll prob just resolve when I get back to l.a. Next week.

Hey phil, which mic do you use

For production work I'm using a Sennheiser ME66 and G3 Wireless Lavs.

I've been able to pipe a feed from a Zoom H4N and a Sound Devices 744T.

If it is still an issue, send me an e-mail describing the cable you are using Will

Might be the cable. At the moment you can only use headphone extension type cables. I found my Sennheiser cables from my wireless lapel don't work, but a $4 1/8"-1/8" cable works great. Needs to be unbalanced.

Curious: You took the line-out from the H4n and plugged it into the mic input on the scarlet..? Was there any audio delay?

I'm getting a slight delay in the .R3D captured audio. I don't know why exactly, but it correctable on the timeline. I have to test just a pure preamp. I suspect the Zoom H4n is to blame.

Phil, try a Sound Devices Mix Pre-D. It will provide phantom power, mic level out, and some of the best preamps in the industry. And no delay.

Edit: well, no delay in the recording. You will hear a delay compared to the live scene, as you do with any digital recording device.

Hi everyone, I tried rigging up my Scarlet for audio today. I had the same issues with audio. Here are my setups in more detail:

First, I tried running audio out of the headphone jack on the Zoom h4n in to the scarlet using a 1/8th-1/8th cable. This line-level audio signal showed up fine in the scarlet. No issues.

Next up, we tried running a Sennheiser shotgun mic in to the scarlet. The mic either takes a battery, or needs phantom power. We put a battery in the mic since the Scarlet doesn't currently have phantom power enabled. We then used an XLR-1/8th cable to plug the mic in to the Scarlet. All we got was tone/noise. No signal from the mic. We tried switching the input from balanced to unbalanced. Neither worked, and produced the same noise/tone.

We then plugged the mic in to the H4n with phantom power disabled to double check that the mic worked without phantom power. It worked just fine.

Any ideas? We have a shoot this Friday, and it would be great to have audio running directly in to the scarlet.
