  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

SCARLET ANNOUNCEMENT - Feedback

I'm a bit worried about the crop factors that we will need to put up with if we want to shoot at higher frame rates.... When you're down to a crop factor of 3.9 for 2K when shooting at 60fps, how will the image look and what about selective focus?

I've recently been told that 2k is actually closer to 3.24. I'll update the graphic if that changes.
 
Slightly of the topic but is the Redmote Pro still in development and does it still include a focus wheel?
Would be perfect for the scarlet with motorized lenses.

Good question, I was wondering the same thing.
 
Does anyone know if the 1080p monitoring output on epic/scarlet uses the low quality lineskipping debayer like the red1's 720p monitoring output or does it derive from a full raster high quality debayer for an oversampled image with little aliasing?
 
Hello everyone.

I'm hopping to get a Scarlet-X by July 2012 (Work! Work! Work! Save! Save! Save!) and VERY much looking forward to it. I was wondering though, with the recent Canon announcement came some short movies showcasing the quality of the footage from their new camera. Just curious where or when we might see some footage from the Scarlet-X? And will it be something produced soon from the RED Team, or something we will see in the very near future from the multitude of folks who will soon have a Scarlet-X in their hands?

heh heh i'm not sure if where Scarlet and I are right now legally counts as being in a test lab.... but It should.

we showed the functioning prototype IPAD app at NAB last year.. works pretty awesome. Just waiting on hardware completion now :)

Jarred, as someone asked, will the Mission Control iPad application somewhat negate the need (except for form factor) of the REDmote. And, can this application also be run from an iPhone?

I know you are not in the business of "un-selling" your products but, as I posted in another forum, if you could charge a fee for the application which might approach or equal the margin on the REDmote, it might be a win-win for both RED and the users. Just thinking aloud here... :mellow:

Interesting. So it sounds like some additional hardware will be needed to control Scarlet/Epic with an iPad?

That's a subjective question... Depends what you are doing with it. As you can see in this photo... I using the titanium mount because I am a little more abusive than I should be.
