  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

This made sense for RED ONE. Doesn't for Scarlet, IMHO. I'd prefer RED expended its efforts in ramping up new feature work on things like REDCINE X, and so many other things that are necessary, than dealing with this logistical nightmare that'll simply eat up resources with no real value for RED.

Future Scarlet owners (includes me) can always sell their camera in the marketplace and upgrade to an EPIC.

There should be a menu option to manually enter lens info for "dumb mounts" or "dumb lenses," as the latest generations of DSLRs have.

Can't be super hard to implement and is, in my opinion, INCREDIBLY useful.
 
That would be a great feature Lee!! Can't believe that wasn't standard anyway with PL lenses. Used to log a Camera report by hand and later injest it in the digital file if needed. Would be super usefull... manual i-data :D

Has anyone heard anything from RED yet regarding their order? I'm concerned that since Thursday I haven't heard anything regarding my order. I did get an automated response that my order was processed, but that is all.

I called and they keep telling me Brian, my bomb squad rep will contact me, but nothing yet. Now the rep is telling me on the phone they have no knowledge of shipping dates, where I sit in the list, etc.

I know they have tons of orders, but the promise was from Jim in the roadmap that RED would not have anything announced that wasn't seriously ready to ship. I dropped my money down and don;t care about waiting, BUT I want some realistic estimate asap.

So can anyone state if they have knowledge about the realistic shipping dates of their Scarlet X's ??
 
Gee Jim, i don't know what to say. What have you done to MY brain?!

Since that friday morning (CET) i feel this tingle in my spine on a daily basis and even as we speak i continue reading and surfing and watching anything that concerns the Scarlet.
After the Red store was online again, we suffered a power outage in my town so it took me an extra day to order my Scarlet (order still on "open order") and i regret not being able to be among the first.
I already had the money stashed away for years, safely from my wife ;-) (under the vacuum cleaner...)
Thanks for keeping the dream alive and keeping a promis! I've never been this excited over a camera purchase; and i've made quite a few the last 25 years...
Can't wait to shoot the unpacking video ;-)

I'm waiting too. I place my order after the announcement but any email from bomb sqad.
And PLS i want pay in US dollar not in sterline.
 
first post over here on REDuser. Everyone at the RED team just saved me a ton of money on RED ONE rentals for my feature, now we'll end up paying the same thing, but OWN our camera. Deposit made!

I got my order in the first night, but if it's just a few days later and shipping that much later than Dec 1...could be shipping later than expected.

It's called an AF100 with the 14-140mm Lens. Has XLR's, Waveform, Vector Scope, Focus Assist, EVF, Playback, 3 NDF's . . . all the stuff you need for ENG. Cost's less than $6K and can shoot 1080/60P.

I don't quite get the meaning of his statement, does that mean that whoever is ordering Scarlet NOW may get in June 2012 or does that apply to all orders from #1?

If it's the latter I hope it's just a rumor full of BS...

We got the girls here in Florence waiting for our SCARLETs with the Canon Ti mounts, so we can finish the RED EPIC/SCARLET CANON mount Reel that we started on our Epic M8, on the SCARLET... ;)
