SCARLET ANNOUNCEMENT - Feedback

I was thinking about buying the Epic M to rent it. But now I'm afraid no one is going to rent it for the price I was thinking to ask for it. I see there is a huge difference in price between both of them.
Is there a huge difference in quality, specs, features, etc... too??? Coz I don’t understand if they are so similar, why the big price hole between them?
And... would anyone prefer to pay that much to rent the EPIC having the Scarlet?? I know it depends for what you want it but, what can you do with the EPIC that you CANT do with the SCARLET that really compensate you to pay for the difference in buying it or renting it?

Red Team, Jim, Jarred,

A sincere thank you. Just ordered the camera through my bomb squad rep. While I was contemplating the purchase of an Epic, with these specs, the Scarlet makes much more sense to me. I can actually build a smooth workflow around this while keeping the overall visual quality. I'm sure that you'll keep adding features for the Scarlet just as you did to your other products. You didn't let us down at all. No more excuses- the digital filmmaking revolution is here. I'm officially on the bandwagon. Thank you !! Just one small improvement I would like to ask: any chance for 120fps for 2K or 1080p? This is something I was really looking forward to...

+1

You made me look modest :-)

Placed an order.
Only place where I'm left wanting is FPS. I hope future firmware releases will bring >60 fps at least on 720p. One of priority features I was waiting Scarlet for was 120 fps@3K, and now its gone :-(
Rest of the changes are awesome!!!!

Jim, what kind of head is that? Is that another surprise?

To be honest, I feel a little embarrassed for Canon. They made this enormous gathering to announce a 1080p camera. I know I'm over simplifying it, but... still. Not only that, they are still doing that stupid thing of releasing a hampered product so they can release the 4k model when they feel the 'industry' is ready for it. Short sighted and pro-gouging customers. Woohoo! I like Canon products and all, but after dipping into the modular design it's REALLY hard to go back to the old way of thinking.

Red, thank you. I could endlessly elaborate, but it would all boil down to the same thing. Thanks. Thanks for being brave enough to actually do what's best for the customer, by being forward thinking. Even if they don't know it some times. Give people choice, and they can do shoot whatever they want. Thank you. I elaborated too much anyway.

I really feel bad for anybody looking to move a RED One right now. I mean, jeez. I would say that the value of a used Red One M probably dropped to ~$5k, MX maybe to ~$7K? And given that Scarlet can be upgraded to Dragon while One can't...

LOL

red one has features scarlet doesn't, as much as people WISH red ones will be 5-7k.. they better stop dreaming

Well played, RED. 4K. No 2/3rd. Perfect on set companion to EPIC. Got my order in for the Scarlet, and there'll be an order for the EPIC-X when Stage 4 gets going. Glad I was able to get on the bandwagon this time around. Thank you, and Congratulations!

redmote are included in the pack???

I see the revolt charger and 2 revolts it's correct???

How many GB. of space take 1 hour of recording at 2K and 3K???

I still would've bought the 2/3" 3K fixed-lens Scarlet... Just sayin'

Not that it matters to Red but I am so proud of you guys! Thanks!

Totally with you, Jeff. Scarlet-X is a fabulous camera but I really wanted the high frames rates and more usable HDRx... Never one to be all that enamored with shallow DOF, I think it's going to take a couple days to adjust my thinking.

Yeah going from 3k @ 120fps to 1024x540 @ 120fps is a what killed it for us. We had the credit card sitting on the desk in front of us ready to go but as soon as we saw 1024x540 @ 120fps we knew it was done.

We shoot sports almost exclusively and without high fps the Scarlet is pretty much useless for us.

Sorry if you guys didn't like what I had to say but that's my honest feedback.

If the sensor upgrade brings 120fps in a useable resolution we might revisit the Scarlet but until then, it was fun while it lasted...
