SCARLET ANNOUNCEMENT - Feedback

It saddens me that the 2/3 with 8x lens has been buried. I was ready with my visa today.. now I am not so sure.

you can still window down to 3k res , thats pretty much 16mm-2/3rds inch , only thing missing is a lens , battle tested 18 to 50mm is under 3k , 16mm lenses are less , only thing you are really losing is a built in lense

I too am sad that the 8x fixed lens is gone. That camera for 7-8 grand was the butter zone for me. While scarlet-X is awesome, with accessories, couple starter lenses and taxes im looking at well over 15 grand.

Time to enter uber money saving mode - i will get a scarlet i swear it :yesnod:

Packages start at $9750. Big increase, but well worth the price. Especially considering that Canon's new cam is $16K and only shoots 1080p. I just wish the 120fps option was still available at 3K like originally planned, but RED still gives you the best bang for your buck.

i was told the canon shoots 4k

Question, maybe anyone figured this already out: is buying the body+SSD module only and elements included in the 'package' deal later more expensive than buying the package deal?

I actually calculated and ended up on $13,890 everything apart, not the package (which is 14,015). Would mean the package is more expensive? Am i missing something?

EDIT:
Scratch that, missed the charger. Costs the same.

Package: 14,015
No package: 9,750 (body+ssd) + $195 + $195 (redvolts) + $250,00 (REDMAG STATION) + $1,600 (touch LCD) + $950 (side handle) + $950 (64 GB REDMAG) + $125 (redvolt charger)

Which is great, as you won't miss out on any discount if you, for example, want a bigger redmag.

Great news Jim. Good on ya for dragging the rest of the world into your universe. And hugely affordable...I can easily see 20,000 of these out in the world before this time next year.

My problem is price and focal length and weight... I was perfectly happy with only ever having one lens at 8x zoom.. You would have to put 8-10 pounds of weight to have that on a s35. and at a much higher cost.
2/3 was the sweet spot for me in many instances... Including DOF, data rates, fps speeds and more.

Can one place a larger deposit than 10% and/or multiple deposits?

Lost for words. Stunning contribution to the industry. Thank you Jim and Jarred and Graeme and anything remotely red.
