  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Scarlet 2/3" Fixed @ CES

I'm waiting to hear about about pricing on Scarlet and Epic-S "kits".

It's too bad that 12K is probably going to be the price for the EPIC-S brain only, because that was my limit back when Scarlet S35 was 7K.

Seriously, no one else would like to see real footage before discussing anymore about the camera? Bizarre.

Woohoo! Thanks Justin..here is the pic in case anyone is too lazy to click on the link hehe

But then I'd still be behind about 7079 people in line. My vote says we do it by post count. Then I'd have only about 40 in front of me. :posti:

hehe...

haha, I second this motion. ;)

But I would save my spot for the FF35.

I think a certain amount of trust has been built up by the quality of very abundant RED ONE R3D footage. Not exactly the same, but a reasonable indicator.

Is it too much to ask that we see some footage FROM the camera, as opposed to this useless chatter about looking AT the camera?

Two hundred posts?

Hehe...

Grandfather Time and Jarred will hopefully provide us with some sort of bone-related footage today.

RED will show us what they want, when they want. It's their prerogative.

Until they are ready, we can only relax and enjoy the ride as best as possible.

Ted said something about a price will be close to 6000 US$ for Scarlet Fixed lens model (body only) ... :hurray::hurray::hurray:

Scarlet Fixed basic configuration body/lens + 5" LCD + RedMote is between 6 to 7 pounds... :hurray::hurray::hurray:

That means is possible to get Scarlet Fixed on Steadicam® Merlin Arm and Vest Hand Held Stabilizing Systems :hurray::hurray::hurray::hurray::hurray:

...Merlin Arm and Vest make extended shooting nearly effortless.
Even with heavy cameras – up to seven pounds (3.2kg)
with the optional Metal Gimbal – the Merlin can now fly for hours
without undue fatigue, and preserve all the flexibility and reach of the operator’s own arms.

Battery life is about an hour...:hurray:

Oh, and for those looking for the merit in this thread, here's something of a summary:

This list, of course, pertains to the Fixed 2/3" Scarlet.

- No more 2.8" Touchscreen.

- F2.4 is the maximum aperture on the fixed lens.

- Package price is still undergoing review. It is expected to be "in the same ballpark".

- Side handle battery is currently lasting about an hour of mixed standby/recording, powering the brain, redmote, and 5" LCD.

- Menu structure still changing.

- HDMI, no HD-SDI.

Scarlet Fixed Lens and Scarlet Body Only are two different beasts, correct? $5,750 was the last quoted price for the Fixed 8x. Body Only (if it is still in the plan) would be cheaper obviously, but would need accessories.

I think Ted is an invaluable asset to RED (and would be to every company). This guy has such a positive way of interacting with people, you could listen to him for hours.

It was just confirmed by Ted in the video a few posts back that the interchangeable lens version (Scarlet Cinema) is still on track. So, yes it is still in the plan. I don’t know where the rumor started that it ever wasn’t.

Here body only means Scarlet camera with fixed lens without LCD, cable, REDMOTE and probably battery is also not included in that price...

So it nothing has to do with a Scarlet interchangeable lens body only model...

Hope this helps...
