  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

It's pretty rare that posts get deleted. Any specific examples you can give to help figure out what happened?
 
Three or four of my posts from today went missing and i cant post on "13th responses here" Obviously i can post here and they dont seem to go missing.. They went missing about an hour after i put them on and all appear to go missing roughly at same time.
Strange indeed. What makes it stranger is i am an avid supporter of the new releases.

have you checked whether they're reappeared somewhere else on the site?
Like they went down some worn hole and they'll turn up on CML or somewhere worse, a sony pd150 user group in 1998.
....like some cyber bermuda triangle.

Which thread? And don't reference page numbers, page numbers differ from one person to another depending on their view settings. I have my view set to something like 100 posts per page, while the default is 10 or 15.


If it was Brook's post, chances are that he deleted it himself. There's also the chance that it was a forum database hiccup... There's been a few of those lately.

Most threads that go missing really just get buried in other traffic. 99% of the time when someone questions me about where a thread has gone, throwing accusations of it being deleted, it's just been moved and the redirect link is suddenly 30 lines down from where it was 12 hours before. Other than that, the remaining few are sometimes deleted because they contain unsolicited advertising that is unfair to our existing forum sponsors or is truly offensive in some way.

The number of posts I read complaining about censorship on this site outnumber the deleted posts (not including blatant bot spam) by at least 2 to 1. As I've said before, if someone's post goes missing and there seems to be no explanation why, feel free to inquire about it. But please search first because, like I've said, more often than not the post or thread is still there if someone just looks around a bit.

Why is one forced to use the real name as a nick-name ?
I have'nt been asked for one !
Or... I missed something ?
I see many of You using something like - xyz123.
Is it a Real name ? :wink:
Can I have a nick-name ?
If Yes, how to do it ?

Because it has been determined by the administrators of the site that moving forward, real names must be used due to some posters who were taking freedom of speech to the limits. In some cases, it just seemed like noise for the sake of noise, so the admins decided to make people accountable for their posts.

Some don't agree with the policy, but at the end of the day, it's up to the admins. I am okay with the policy.

I believe some might have been grandfathered in and were able to keep their nicknames. But I think they are using their real names in their signature.

I posted information that I felt was helpful and was truthful in my recent post on RED. If I offended it was not intentional but I was agrieved that your camera system was being denegrated to that of spam. Nuff said!! I am chastised and repentant.
