Currently, I have the RR in the 2nd PCI-E slot on a 2008 2.8 Octo MAC with 10GB Ram. It gives me that "Your RR is in x4 PCI-E Lane" message when I boot up the RocketCine.

A bug with the card firmware at the moment in the MacPro 3,1, makes it run the slot at 4x instead of 8x, and makes it very slow and buggy.

You need to:
- shut down the machine.
- let it rest for >1 min.
- Power it up.
- Check system profiler like this: http://gallery.me.com/redrentaldk/100013

If it still says x4 try the procedure again. On my mac pro 3.1 there's a 50% chance it boots in x4 mode.

The render results vary from like 4:1 to 12:1 when exporting 1080 ProRes HQ. If I render one clip at a time, and restart the RocketCine between each render, I get about 4:1. If I render a group of clips, I get about 12:1 render time.

When I re-boot my Mac with a min. interval, the first clip renders 4:1, but the rest get 12:1.

Is there anything I can do to maintain the 4:1 render time. That'd make me a bit more happy for now. :001_unsure:

Hi Nook,

Can you email me your system profile?

Also, are you continuing to work while it's rendering?

RocketcineX let you save look presets and apply them to groups of clips easily. It also lets you create presets for outputting which can then be added to a batch for output.

Thanks Deanan and Kaku!

That's great to know. Thanks!

For the clips that you have de-selected for getting that look applied, can you load a separate RSX or RLX file and apply to those clips in the same batch?

Or should you do a separate batch for clips that all have separate look files applied?

You can then deselect all and then select a new group of clips and apply different looks.

Hello Andre,

I mentioned that the lane speed sometimes goes down to x4 when you change the configuration on the PCIe slots, but yesterday, something else happened.

I was getting ready to give demo at Adobe Japan. RED ROCKET with ROCKETcine-X was working fine, also I was going to give surprise demo of REDCINE-X, too. I had to give demo of CS4 with RED since it's an Adobe demo, then I realized that I had the OS running English language as primary. I remembered that the Japanse version of AE CS4 won't work with English as primary, so I switched to Japanese as primary in the language selection. Rebooted and tried everything but ROCKETcine-X tells me it's running at x4. Ah, I thought it was the configuration change so I rebooted the system. Then tried but it still says x4. Only thing I changed was the language selection, so I put it back to English as primary, then rebooted, and it was running at x8.

I suspect something to do with language selection.

Hi Kaku,

We were able to replicate the x4 issue and have a driver fix for it that should be out soon.

Deanan,

Thank you for the good news.

SDI out

SDI out

I am not sure if this question has already been answered but my search didn't return any results.

How do I get SDI playback in ROCKETCINE-X?
I can get to settings etc.. but not sure how to get 4:4:4 RGB out on SDI?

Thanks

In the Rocket output setting window, just choose 4:4:4 output and connect via dual link HDSDI.

Dual-Link HD-SDI?

Dual-Link HD-SDI?

Is this enabled yet or is RGB only enabled for DVI? I can't seem to get a signal out of the second HD-SDI link. I've tried it on two different cards.

Thanks.

Jeremy, it works for me, try swapping the other way around.

This photo shows that RGB dual link is working.

Any update on the next update?

Hi Deanan,

Do you have an ETA on the next version of the RocketCine X?
I hope to see my RR get up and do some transcoding for me :(

Thanks Kaku,

But that doesn't do it.

You should contact deanan at red dot com directly and find out if there's anything wrong with you card or the cable on the card.

Yes, please email me (deanan at r e d ) if you're having any problems.

Don't know if this is mentioned before, and it sounds like conflicting what Deanan is suggesting, but when I keep getting x4 status alert, instead of shutting down and leave it for awhile and power cycle, I restart the Mac instead and it would come back up with x8 lane.

RED Rocket™™, such a game changer.

When the most production companies and post houses are saying and worrying about time for conversion, I get called take my Mac Pro with RED Rocket™™, do the baselight in realtime and convert the footage in pretty much realtime. Bang! I get call back saying they want me to take over the whole workflow. I'm new kid in the block (but actually 48 year old) in the Cinema and big time TV commercial work, who came from QuickTime video generation. I'm totally in the main stream, believe it or not.
I decided to go with cinema style with Panasonic HVX200 when it came out first. Decided to shift my main effort in 24frame business. Then with RED, I have achieved this first goal to be in the scene. I want to thank Jim and Frederic Haubrich, who got me into this and Jarred, Deanan and Graeme for treating me and people in the similar situation well, even with my broken English.
