Just saw the following quote on the FB page for a retailer called Image One:

"Waiting on your RED Scarlet-W or Raven pre-order from Red.com? Switch the order over to us and cut your waiting time off... RED has just told us that they will be allocating all of the first few batches of camera's to their retail stores like us before any .com orders are fulfilled! Call, message or email us today and we will get your order taken care of!!! #redcamera #redcam #shotonred $redraven #redscarletw #reddragon #imageonecamera"

Whether this is true or not is up to RED, not us. Having said that, if I was Image One Camera and Video, I would be expecting a phone call, and not a nice one?

I am moving my order to a dealer and have been told it will arrive faster from both sides. I think RED has a partnership with dealers to allocate them faster as they usually order in bulk.

I wouldn't put too much stock into that, first few batches have already been sent out for every available camera line. So it doesn't make much sense to begin with. Also .com buyers have already been allocated for s-w and Ravens.

I thought this was already common knowledge? This is what all the dealerships were told and is why we've been asking how the allocation queue here on reduser could make any sense. This was brought up ages ago? If you can find a dealership who hasn't promised all their units away, get on it.

Not sure what info you're building that conclusion off of, all we've heard officially from Red was that dealers are in the same queue. The allocation thread isn't moving because theirs a metric shit ton of orders and Redusers are only a small fraction of that group.

First post on the forum and figured I might as well try to be of some use. Just to throw in what little knowledge/experience I have on this topic.

I placed an order for a Scarlet-W package at the end of March. The next day a representative from RED called me on the phone and straight up told me that if I switch to a dealer near me that he recommended, I would likely see my camera before someone who ordered through red.com UP TO a month ahead of me because of the bulk order priority the dealer has.

The fact that my bomb squad rep called to tell me this bit of info without me even asking was a sign that I should probably jump on the opportunity. Either way I'm expecting a wait... but super antsy as well!

Heh hear you there man, I can't wait to get my hands on my camera either :) Yeah I talked with my rep about it as well luckily my raven preorder is pretty early so he said I shouldn't switch. I know dealers have a bit of priority but I was more questioning the aspect of the Dealers facebook post about how all cameras produced were going to dealers and not orders through red.com, which is clearly not the case as orders from Red directly have already been fulfilled.

This is understandable, yes... dealers may be in the same queue as everyone else, but if they were the first and/or if they ordered 10 Ravens and 10 Scarlet-Ws; thats still 10 units that they have that people behind do not... they need to sell those units off and if 10 people haven't bought them yet, someone run over there and get them.

For example, say this is the queue that began last september:
1. Tom
2. Dick
3. Harry
4. Dealer (10 units)
5. Jay
6. Big bird
.
.
.
100. Snuffleluffagus

Suppose RED delivered to the top 10 already, and you order now... you could be number 101, but if you went to the dealer who had a unit... you just got a unit before number 11.

You can safely assume that every dealer has reserved 8-10 package units per dealership, and there are probably 100's of these dealerships worldwide. The Ravens are shipping as we speak, but the people that are receiving them are the dealerships and their customers...who aren't regular reduser visitors. They speak directly with their dealership, not here on reduser. That's why it seems nobody has received them. You can trust there are loads out there in the wild, more and more each day.

But my point in writing this earlier, is that if you can find a dealership that hasn't had all their units reserved (and there are surprisingly many still!), speak to them and reserve it now. This will move a camera into your hands MUCH faster. Many of the dealerships (including my own) actually ordered bulk, before the raven was officially announced. So those early timestamps you see listed in here that users have made, they're not indicative of anything accurate. There's so many dealerships that are ahead of those timestamps. Get out there and find them!

If only some dealers wouldn't charge 30% on top of RED price...

From Brent: "Gene, dealers are in the same queue as you folks.".

Thing is: if a dealer ordered a large batch of cameras right when they came out, this is definitely possible. They would take delivery of their batch of cameras right inline with all the other red.com customers. (not for a single camera but whatever amount of cameras they ordered) If these cameras weren't snagged off their hands already, they definitely can deliver faster than the long RED.com waiting line if you jump ahead and grab one of them.

EDIT: just saw the second page. yup. same thing.

Same thing happened to me back in February.

probably a small dealer? cuz mine charged me the same price listed on the Red website. And i'll let you guys know if it true dealers have dibs on orders cuz my dealer told me he had priority on Red orders im guessing because they buy a dozen at a time so well see if its true. one way or another ill have it just dont know when this year lol so being patient is key here
