Two days ago, while standing in line at the SMPTE meeting in Hollywood, I was discussing new Resolve with BMD engineer, when he casually mentions, that Resolve Lite 10 is not limited to HD resolution any longer. In fact now it can render UHD. Not too bad for a free software!
Scroll down the page to Deliver specs and see for yourself

Got it working by cutting & Pasting the URL.

But for some reason clicking on the link results in a blank screen.

Wow that is incredible news. Pretty big deal not being limited to 1080p on the lite version

Pretty great software for free. That said, I think it is the best marketing for them as a huge number of people will become proficient with the Lite version and then, at some point, need or want one of the features on the paid version and will upgrade. Also a great way to bring users into their fold instead of learning another product. Kudos to BMD all around!

Thanks for the head's up.

My list of reasons not to get a Decklink 4k Extreme just got shorter.

This makes me so mad. I just bought a dongle a month ago so I can grade 4K footage that is now worthless, or at least hard to sell, or the market will now be saturated with used dongles. Grrr.

Lite version is still limited to just UHD. If you want 4k you still must use full version of Resolve.

After briefly reviewing the options of version 10 and free version---I find it hard to justify $995 unless doing 3d work....Does anyone see this different?

Yes, with the Lite version you still can't do noise reduction, use more than one GPU for image processing and the most important, at least for me, no remote grading.

The market is saturated already with all the dongles, that come with all those BM cameras.

Full 4K or anything else in between or greater. Lite has only been enabled to do UHD specifically.
