RED ONE owners and users, here is your holiday gift from RED :)

The beta version of Build 12 (v1.8.6) Firmware and release version of Build 11 (v1.7.0) Firmware have been posted on RED.com/support (password-protected download).

Thanks and happy holidays! And to all a good night!

Audio Recording and Metering, OPEN GATE mode for RED-EVF, SYNC Mode for RED-EVF, False Color and Zebra on HDMI and PVW HD-SDI, GMT Time and Day with Time Zone offset, Programmable GPIO’s, Interval and Trigger based TimeLapse, Frame Rate Ramping, Black Shading Calibration / Highlight Streak Suppression

Awesome! :gun:

GREAT! Now, if only I had a camera...

I've been shooting this release and love it... seems bulletproof. We are getting there...

By the way... black shading calibration takes about 6 minutes. Make sure you do this and have a full battery or are on AC.

Why would 2:35 and 1:85 frame guides be deleted?

Sorry... 1.85a was deleted (anamorphic for Soderbergh). 1.85 is still there and 2.35 is redundant since we have 2.39.

Note: Unless upgrading from a previous version of Build 12, a BLACK SHADING calibration must be performed. More detailed instructions are contained in the System Menus section of the Operations Guide.
I checked the system menus section of the operations guide, but it appears that this section has not yet been upgraded (I think Alex was aluding to this). Just a casual reminder that if black shading calibration "MUST" be done, it would be good to have the manual updated before we can apply the patch (and to begin using the new build!).

Thanks guys for the continual work, especially over the holidays. I don't know of a single other company that is as available as you guys are around the clock.

Indeed, with tons of features being added such as:

Programmable GPIO's
Interval and Trigger based TimeLapse
Frame Rate Ramping
Black Shading Calibration / Highlight Streak Suppression*

The manual is a helpful tool to help wrap your head around the new toys.

Edit* Ah my mistake, I was checking the support section for the new manual and couldn't find it, just jumped into the build 12 folder and found it! :usd:

Me too, I don´t have an idea what´s this Black Shading Calibration.
Any clue?

Operations Guides

The upload of the Operations Guide for Build 12 has now completed. See www.red.com/support

Black Shading information is in that version under System Menus..

audio is marked incorrectly in 1-50 & where to get cables

audio is marked incorrectly in 1-50 & where to get cables

quick note to 1-50:

the audio channels are not marked correctly on cameras 1-50. should be top row left to right 1,2 and then bottom row left to right 3,4.

If you cant get down to Orange county to pick up mini to standard xlr adapter, then Coffey Sound on cahuenga just south of barham has manufactured cables that make the mini to mini xlr you got with your camera work, there cables go from mini-xlr male to standard xlr female.

have fun...can you hear me now.

Is this something to reduce fixed-pattern noise at high ISO settings?

Also, will there be an updated version of Redcine to work with R3D files with recorded audio?

If I'm not mistaken, it's basically a black balance on steroids. Probably maps out stuck pixels or just makes sure all pixels readthe same black values. Just some guessing.

There's no FPN to be reduced! That was fixed with the alpha cameras.
