  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

RELEASED: RED ADOBE CS4 INSTALLER (v1.3.0)

Thanks Red Team for Delivering Adobe Plugin. I am updating my software!

I want to thank EVERYONE at Adobe that got behind this - and EVERYONE at RED that busted ass on this (specifically Rob and Deanan) and EVERYONE on the beta test team -

IT'S BETA

YOU AIN'T SEEN NOTHIN' YET

BRAVO ADOBE. BRAVO RED.

Just a quick note on people not using the recommended configs (8 core & 8GB Vista64/OSX 10.5) These configs were based on full workflow. I think it's fair to say that you can have a good editing experience on a "lesser" machine/laptop for rough cutting and content preview.Having a laptop on set to quickly review content works quite well. We were careful not to give the assumption that you could complete a full 4K out running on a laptop. The main issue is really more about RAM. QuadCores with 8GB of RAM will have have a good experience but no question that 8 Core users will see better performance. Take a look at the workflow video to see how to get your system working at it's peek. --- DKH

Oh crap. I am running PPro on a XP Pro 32bit desktop with a quad-core 3+ 45nm Yorkfield chip. Windows 32 bit limit is 4gig RAM (really about 3.5gig). Are you saying I have to switch to Vista (eeeek) in order for this tu run full on!

I'm feeling the power.

Are you hardcore Final Cutters making an easy transition? I've been very intrigued about the Adobe suite, especially now that official Red support is there. But I'm much more careful about where I put money these days, so I'm hesitant at the moment to plunk down $1,000 until I get a sense of how this is all shaking down. So far, sounds like most are happy. Mark has been a big supporter, as have others that have had early access to it, so I'm pretty convinced. Just need that final "It's a no-brainer, don't waste another second thinking about it, this is the end-all-be-all workflow".

Thanks guys, and thanks Red team for the hard work on getting this to market.

after effects 9.01 update isn't released yet, so don't expect AE to work. on the other hand, premiere pro works very well! :usd:

Just installed everything. All working perfectly. This is sweet from editing point of view. One question that I've been waiting to ask but wanted to see this workflow first. So now, how does Redcine fit in. It was great for color correction on r3d files but now that we're working with native r3d is it now out of the loop?

When i change my source settings then save and quit, the program wont reopen the project: "The project contained a sequence that could not be opened. No sequence preview preset file or codec could be associated with this sequence type"
It also fails to render the timeline.

NB The media browser is amazing

What about working with additional formats? If I want to edit a video that has Red footage and HDV footage, is this supported?

Cant just reopen any saved Red preset project, even if i dont import any footage, both if saved in my external hd and in the original adobe folder on system hd.
Note that i can import and edit with no issues on Mbpro 2,6, amazing experience. Just cant reopen after saved.

Paolo, can you confirm that you have 4.0.1 installed for PPro?

There's an additional file installed by the 4.0.1 updater (ie a 'sequence preview preset file' as your error msg indicates) that is used by the RED presets - if this file is missing, this would explain why the saved projects that were build with the RED presets aren't reloading correctly.
