  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

RELEASED: RED ADOBE CS4 INSTALLER (v1.3.0)

Sweet!

1. Updated CS4 Apps.
2. Downloaded and Installed Plug-Ins.
3. Followed simple instructions in the Adobe Workflow Video.
4. Works like a charm. Editing 2k at 512 on MBPro in Premiere.

Quick question though. Once my Red Audio Board gets upgraded and I can actually use the Red for audio, the audio isn't saved in the R3D right? Or is it? I thought audio only in the QT proxies? If not, what is the workflow to maintain the audio?

Do people notice a big difference in playback speed/quality when compared to using the M proxy files in FCP? I'm about to make the jump to Premiere & am curious about performance.

Also, being somewhat of an AE noob, what are people using for Color Correction? Colorista?

After AE 9.0.1 update all is well.

Only I still cannot figure out where I could in AE adjust ISO setting for imported R3D files!!??

Great Job on this one guys. You just made my life a lot easier. I'm just launching into the post production on my feature, which is heavily effects laden, and this is going to streamline the workflow for the effects on the PCs incredibly. I can't even tell you how much I appreciate this.

What about

"Unrendered red segments in RED sequences with resolutions greater than 1920 x 1080, will remain red and
cannot be rendered to a preview file"

? can't go bigger than 1080? :-/

Also

"Workingspace is set to something other than None), the required change is to assign the HDTV (Rec. 709) color
profile in the Color Management tab of the Interpret Footage dialog.
"

You have to set rec709?

Yip as above.. where do you set Colour/Gamma space?

Seems like currently Premiere can only output 1080 resolution and 8-bit. To finish at higher resolution and bit depth you need to render via After Effects. Not an ideal workflow, but I've yet to try it out and see how viable it is in a real situation.

Seems like the Red Adobe importer only does rec709. Theoretically since AE will be working with that data as 32-bit float, and you can set it to composite in linear light, the interpretation of the footage as rec709 should not affect rendering as eg log DPX, and using working spaces other than rec709. Again we shall see with testing.

Might give it a go this afternoon..

Just gone R3D> BM 10bit RGB > BM 10bit 422 yuv

The RGB and YUV look the same apart from in FCP which I expected in the canvas but the SDI out also shows a gamma shift :( grrr...

Paolo, can you confirm that you have 4.0.1 installed for PPro?

There's an additional file installed by the 4.0.1 updater (ie a 'sequence preview preset file' as your error msg indicates) that is used by the RED presets - if this file is missing, this would explain why the saved projects that were build with the RED presets aren't reloading correctly.

Everything is updated.
Reinstalled everything a second time and still the same problem.
Am i the only one here facing this?

i havent got CS4, so I'm just asking is there a way to control metadata? ISO, WB, curves etc?

If not what determines how it imports all that information??

Ok , this is quiet cool you could say...

I surelly hopes that premiere holds up well and doesn't crash all the time like it did when i used it in combi with canopus storm for editing dv... Hope they have fixed it...
at least I must admit I've been editing on a system with a matrox axio uncompressed hd system, where it didn't fail one in a 2 week non stop editing and rendering job..., so it could be depending who and how your computer is put together, and in both jobs it was done by real professionals soo??????

Hopefully this time better..

Very stable for me and I have been on alpha for weeks just love it!!!

Grade with ColorFinesse within Premiere - it's that simple.

I'm wondering the same thing. I need to be able to control the metadata. I have read through the documentation, and I haven't seen anything about this. I'm probably just missing it.

All of those "thank you" notes are littering the space, could you people just restrain yourself on issues, problem fixing and general information???
