  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Release Camera Build 3.2.16

No need to worry if the upgrade doesn't take as long as the read me says it will. There really is no way for a camera to "partially" upgrade.

Hi Trent,
You still haven't touched on the white/split screen on start-up issue faced by many of us after the upgrade.. What's causing it? What's the remedy? And yes we did follow the upgrade instructions. Thanks

Thanks for the great new features.
I too experienced the split screen of death, but fortunately I rebooted (with no REDmag) and the problem went away. Seems to be working fine now with or without REDmag loaded.
Rob: When this problem happens, it basically just hangs on boot-up and never finishes booting. The screen shows a black and white splitscreen, or all white.

Regarding:

  • Added HDMI 1080p/720p refresh rates of 24,25,30,50,60

Does this mean that more 'consumer HDTV's' will work?

Regrading the white screen issue, usually when it happens, just unplugging and re-plugging the touch-screen does fix it, so it's no big deal.

Anyway, nice update.
Here are the next things I'd like to see :
- Simultaneous HDMI and HD-SDI outputs
- Audio playback
- Look-around
- Long exposures in timelapse mode (and a true timelapse mode with more options)
- A calibration mode that takes less than 20 minutes ;-)
- Better power management if that's possible, especially when using just a Redvolt in the side handle...

But I'm already more than happy with the camera as it is...

YES Nils you right ... !!

+1

Thanks Jose. Maybe it is something that just happens initially and does not come back. Anyway I might hang back a bit and see what other people's experiences are like on this issue before going to the release build.

Just uploaded firmware, no issues, but 5K HD. Typo??
Also missing 172 & 180 degree shutter. Was this to stop the stuttering on the LCD display?

Getting ready to install the update but am having a brain freeze, do I need to remove the side handle still or can it be left on during the upgrade?

I have had the split screen issue with just about every update whether beta or release. What I have discovered is that pressing the 1:1 focus assist button on the top left of the touchscreen clears the problem, and I do not have to reboot.

I took mine off.

Well I left it on and it didn't blow up. Strange though, the "upgrade" didn't behave at all like the instructions suggested. There were no flashing green lights after 45 seconds. The fan went full blast, the screen stayed black and then nothing. So after a few minutes I rebooted and checked and the camera showed 3.2.16 installed. I took the SSD out and plugged it back into my computer and noticed the Force Upgrade folder was missing. Does the camera erase the folder from the SSD once the upload is complete? Do we have self-cleansing SSDs now? Will wonders never cease!

In theory, yes.

However, my experience with a Samsung monitor that reads 1080p60 perfectly, is that it shows 'unsupported format' for the Scarlet's 24 Hz. The monitor can play BluRays at 24p.

A Sharp LCD also easily plays 1080p60, but only sometimes plays Scarlet's 24 Hz. It also plays 1080p24 BluRays with no problem.

I'm also having no success with a Black Magic Intensity card recording at 1080p24 - which is one of the formats it's designed for.

What I did was reformat the SSD in the camera. What has changed is no 180 degree shutter.

+1 on Nils list and 2.4:1 WS, 2:1 in all resolutions please.

I just don't know if the plugs are able to stand being plugged in and out everytime I boot the camera. (Happens 80% of the time).

Have you tried the 1:1 button on the lcd screen as wiliam suggested? I have been waiting for this build since I want to stay away from beta if possible. But it seams to many have this issue.
