  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

R3D Demo in Media Composer 5

Dylan - Thanks for the demo. I have an R3D project that I need to already be editing but decided to wait for MC5. This lets me know I can hit the ground running!

Thanks again!

Histogram in the Source Setting window!! Great!

FLUT and everything. I'm really really looking forward to receive one.

It looks great, Dylan :)
thanks for posting.
Full access to all RAW settings looks sweet.

It will also read RLX, RSX, and RMD if available. You can also apply any one of those files to a batch of R3D files in cases where the DP might set a look for the first take only due to time contraints, etc. Also, the white bars are important as they set the SMPTE HD limit for black and white levels, and the histogram can be zoomed in and individual channels set. The "apply" button sends the changes to the clip if loaded in the source monitor so that you can see changes on a calibrated client monitor if connected.

Is it support stereoscopic 3D like metafuze does?

AMA import rules.
I think Apple have not heard, they must be talking on the phone :-)

I run for my update.

Zoom on each channel...I'm speechless.
Would it display picture from R3D via MXO2 mini, too?

Hi Michael,

Can MC5 save the look as RMD or RSX?

In Japan, it's going to be out on June 10th.

Yes, "Apply" affects currently loaded clip in source monitor. If you have Avid hardware or MX02, you will see it on the client monitor. Media Composer will not write back RSX or RMD. That is something that the latest SDK introduced and we haven't looked into that yet. The Avid bin will maintain all changes made if tweaked during import.

It looks like going to be great, thanks Michael.

Another nice trick will be that you can "duplicate a clip" (not the media) and change R3D settings on that clip and each will retain their own. Nice for looking at different "looks" in context if needed.
