  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

REDRAY Comments

Power 120 - 240V 50 - 60Hz A.C.

On the image showing the network it mentions their CDN cloud reaches into Europe and Asia.
Yep, technically it will work, but i was more thinking about all that distribution rights mess we have currently, region-coding and so on. I can only dream about having access to all the content in unfiltered form...

Great, now I need a 4K display. I hear Sony has one for the low, low price of $25K. C'mon Samsung, time to step it up.

LG has a 84" too. Toshiba already has a 55", but this can't accept more than 1080p on its inputs. I guess they'll upgrade it soon.

You don't want a Samsung. Very high screen failure rate on their LED TVs as of late and you don't want those horrible touchscreen remotes. There really is no way around those remotes.

I'm sure large releases will have region coding. We'll see...

Wait, where'd the info disappear to? I was just about start yelling on Facebook. Hahaha.

First off. Awesome. Really awesome.

A few questions.

-Current playback frame rates are listed as: 24, 25, 30, 48, 50, and 60fps. Does that also mean 23.98, 29.97, 47.95, 59.94?
-. R3D and .MP4 support out of the box. Will more formats be supported via firmware upgrade? I'm thinking down the line once h.265 or other formats happen.
- .RED format/codec sounds great. Like amazing great. Can we expect Adobe, Avid, and Apple support soonish.
- .RED files can be played back locally? (for quality control purposes)
- RRencoder Plugin for RCX. Awesome. So awesome. Will it support image sequences (not just intermediate video formats)?
- CRIMSON Projection systems. Is this the "theatrical" or "home" model of RedRay?
- RedCrypt encryption, more info?

It's so damn compact. Thank you for including Genlock. Smart.

And, $1450. Yeah. That's pretty much a game changer.

And um. Can you say 4K dailies on SD Cards? Because that's pretty neat. Not to mention that can be full projects as well. Just great.

Hello ODEMAX. Lets be friends.

ok.. Player is in the store.

Q/A time.

- Only .RED and .MP4 support in the box.. Future formats it all depends.

- We are talking with everyone ( 3rd party support )

- yes locally. You can fill the internal 1TB drive up locally with whatever .RED files you want, or use an external SD card, USB Thumbdrive, or USB drive . ODEMAX is when you want to distribute.

-Yes.. it will support DPX/TIFF image sequences the day it launches ( as well as .R3D of course )

- Crimson is the big badass Theatrical projector for the really big screens. REDRAY projector is for the smaller screens.

- RedCrypt encryption Stuart can fill you in on that.

Gibby, beat ya to it. And I beat Brett. That is weird.

Yes, you did...by a few seconds ;)

I just happened to log into Red User just a few minutes before Jarred began to put all this stuff up. Good timing I guess...

Ordered. Is the REDRAY used in the SHOT ON RED festival?

Jarred,
I just preordered the player but when I buy the projector (that comes with the player) how will that work? Will I be able to buy just the projector?
