  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

REDRAY Comments

and oh by the fucking way 2.5 mb/s versus the 15 mb/s we saw at NAB the past couple years.

Now to prepare for this fully armed and operational REDCODE baby...

I hate to say this, but you know who I could see jump on this system early if it's allowed? Porn companies.

bow-chick-a-wowow...

4K 3D porn could be a serious gold mine.

Odemax charges 30% of each DRM transaction and delivery of content to the home. A Channel Owner is NOT charged for their venue, sales or management tools. Only on what you sell. In the case of Theatrical Delivery, Odemax offers a no bull breakdown. 50% to Channel Owner, 30% to Theater Owner, 20% to Odemax. Odemax is compatible with existing point-of-sale Box Office ticketing software and services. Theatrical Sales reports are delivered directly to the Channel Owner/Distributor, hourly, daily, and week ending.

All you need is a 4K movie, and even if your film is in process, we'll take a 4K trailer for up to 30 days prior to actually receiving your REDray feature master file.

As Jarred said, you can limit to a specific player or number of players. As long as the End User (Home or Theatrical) account has those players linked to the account.

The man himself! Great announcement Jon!

I sure hope the 2.5 MB/s codec holds up!

heh heh heh.. everyone that has seen anything shown at a RED event, at NAB, or at RED studios in the last 2 years, things like LOOM, TATTOO, our reels, etc.. has seen the .RED codec in it's prototype form playing back at a much lower rate... 1.5 MB/s.. so it holds up just fine :)

Thought we were going to hear about the projectors today. But (sorry if this has been answered), if we're going to order a projector ASAP and that has a built-in player, isn't this unit redundant? Am I missing something?

Kevin

Revenue share for sold content is 70%-30% for most people. Theaters have a different split as they require some extra stuff. Everyone who creates a channel on ODEMAX ( which is all of you if you want ) you have access to theater screens, or better put the theaters have access to your content, assuming they want to show it. The backend has the most incredible user controlled dependency structure as well as the best reporting and statistics I have seen.

This is awesome, possibilities are endless. Who sets the price of the content?

USB 2.0?? really guys? Also 1tb, Also, can't you provide options with 2,3,4gb drives?

Holy cow. The scope of this thing is slowly coming together. Would personally love to see one of your Vimeo tutorials just hitting the bullet points of some of this stuff.

If anyone can make a channel, what is going to keep the quality up. If there isn't mainstream content what is going to drive consumers? I guess Vimeo has some curated content via staff picks. Anyway, when a platform is full of junk it can make it hard to connect with the good content.

?

I'm sorry, but is that what you're worried about? Why not focus on what YOU'LL do with it. Let people find YOU. I'm sure your content will be beast.

Sounds amazing. Is the Theater/Channel owner % flexible or fixed?

ODEMAX sounds like something Magnolia Pictures and Landmark Theaters would be very into.

Jarred,

Great news. Just been back from a film festival and just the experience of managing different playback formats made me think about when will a cost efficient digital standard for screening will be available for independent production that cannot make it to DCP. A couple of questions:

- About media playback options, will there be any option to create and manage playlist as it is done in DCP servers?
- In any future will we be able to encode .RED files from video formats such as Apple ProRes HQ?

I am guessing if some one is remotely considering SD video it will have to be upscaled to at least 720, not that I am planning to shoot SD but considering archival footage.

Right there with you Samir.

I wish this thing had a redmag slot to watch R3D files directly from Redmag. That's what I thought that (what now is an IR window) was

Jarred,

Any chance of DCI compliant DCP playback for cinemas if the future? Would love to see the cartel like pricing of DCP servers from Dolby/GDC/Doreimi get blown up much like you guys did with the Red One on the camera side.

We actually solved this with the Crimson Cinema Laser Projector... we even allow DCI compliant passthrough from all those old players until they finally get rid of them :)

SD video needs to be burned unless it is really, really important.

Playlists yes for local content.. it is how we have been showing our trailers and reels for awhile now.

Ill see your bandwidth and raise u mine ;)
