Did a quick test today.
Original REDLink antenna : 36% signal from an airport express 10 meters away
Longer SMA antenna (originally from a teradek cube) : 52 % on same router
No antenna at all : < 10 %
I will try to get more wifi SMA female antennas and do some proper range testing to see how far it can go in open space / outdoor as I had lots of REDLink users interested in extending the range of the REDLink for studio, RC hell or Movi applications.
It is also obvious from simple tests that adding a router as a middle guy (if possible with external antennas) will also increase range versus using a direct connection to a laptop / phone via ad hoc network.
anyone else did any testing to evaluate REDLink range in real life situation ?
