$900?, no thanks anyway, like Björn said, I can cook luts rigth away too, just post the r3d charts.If you want to make LUTs to match different cameras, or similar, you can do that with the Light Illusion MatchLigth IMS program.
http://www.lightillusion.com/matchlight.html
This is already being used by a number of clients for exactly this capability.
The two images/sequences do need to be very 'similar' but with some user alignment of the two images/sequences the results are very good.
One well known operation (that can't be named) uses this to match cameras to within very tight levels.

Yes pleaseOne idea to stop this dumb Alexa vs epic talk. If somebody could shot a good chart with 16 steps of grayscale and all a (do no know the right word) a " stepped rainbow with an alexa and an epic in a somewhat lab like environment then it would be a no brainer to make a REDlogFilm2AlexaClog lut or even red could do this and next to redlogfilm add...... GermanLog as an option.
All the debate that alexa has more stops and better skintones is as I see it very much so that people do not really know what to do with the raw files, so they tweak it export Redgamma3 and then push it some more... and boom the face colors goes bad in the video color space. REDLogFilm is not far from alexa log but getting it dead on would put an end to the discussion I think.

You will be grading in "video". The highlights will be compressed by the REDgamma3 curve, and it may be hard to expand the highlight detail. It is also easy to accidentally make your highest highlights grey instead of white.What is the difference ;
a-Selecting RedGamma3 in Resolve RAW
You will be grading in log as is traditionally done with scanned film. The REDgamma3 highlight compression is applied after your grade.b-Applying your RedGamma3 as LUT in node section?
You'll find that a lot harder than you think... Charts do not contain enough data for accurate LUT generation.
MatchLight uses all the pixels within a sequence of images to generate very accurate LUTs.

So can someone explain to me the purpose of these LUT's. I'm confused because you can essentially change it in the raw propertied back to redgamma...

You [should] be grading in log as is traditionally done with scanned film. The REDgamma3 highlight compression [should be] applied after your grade.
But until you start making grading adjustments the result is the same (other than the black level adjustment as described in my ReadMe file).
Do not apply my LUT before your grading adjustments in the pipeline, or you end up grading in "video" again. Adjustments after the LUT should only be for specific trims which work better in "video".
