Here are some really great examples of the difference between the old and new gamma options. In order they are:

REDgamma (old)
REDlog (old)
REDgamma2 (new)
REDlogFilm (new)

These are courtesy of Michael and Don Burgess with help from Brook Willard.

Agreed...REDlogFILM is huge.
Thanks for post JIm.
BEst,

Awesome! Shows why I'm so in love with REDlogFilm! Look at the sky and bright buildings... you're getting back DR for free.

Agreed. This is a great example to show people how RED just gets better and better.

The new gamma curves really match the MX sensor. I never felt happy with the way that the MX sensor looked with the old color science. I knew it had the DR, I knew I could *see* the DR if I changed the ASA up or down... but the contrast always felt too high to actually *use* the DR [without some serious trickery].

Now I can use it. :)

REDCODE is the gem. It's the cornerstone. This Old RED M footage looks as good as the first MX footage.

I'll say it again. REDCODE is the gem.

WOW! Great stuff. I wish you would have told me, I could have shot that directly from my last apartment! ;-)

When is STORM (and others) going to be able to get their hands on this new science Jim so they can use these new color spaces?

About now...

I think I saw a can of film walking out of town with a suitcase in its hand.

:)

I hope we get a firmware update soonish that allows for us to shoot and view in the new color/gamma space. That would be the bees knees.
