  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

REDCINE-X Professional Update... Build 9 Beta.

I don't know if this is the place to send feedback but...
Beta build 9
Mac
output to Pro Res 422

just exported a timeline (separate clips) with an export preset which I edited to send to a new location folder but the clips went to an old folder so the edit location path seems not to be taking - or am I missing something? I think it went to the folder I set it to the last time I used the preset even though it shows the path to the new location in the settings. Everything else I was doing seemed to work fine though... Thanks for the great software guys.

I have no knowledge of any PC motherboard that has 6 PCIe x8 slots + one more for a graphics card.
Does anybody here ever heard of such a beast?

EVGA SR-2 = 7 slots

Beta feedbackThis version, and the previous, causes freezes and crashes when trying to adjust the ISO and FLUT. The clip just goes unresponsive. Ctrl Alt Del brings back control. Same problem that I logged with V8Quite a few crashes today, including Runtime error. Logs are attached. The machine is a Win 7 x64. Dual Xeon (8 cores total) 24GB ram, Raid 1+0, GTX 580

Hi Paul,

Thanks for the feedback. Can you turn on verbose logging and email the logs to redcinex at red dot com please?

Thanks!
David

Thanks Peter, we'll take a look.

hi David

I turned on verbose logging and the entire thing dragged to a slow halt. Maybe the size of these logs is a hint why. They're so big I've had to put them up at www.paulrussellphoto.com/misc/RCX-01-03-00-24-28-688.zip

It seems to be related to putting the screen panel into 100% resolution. After that, even if dropping back down to 1/8th, we're in major slow motion mode.

Cheers

Paul

I just installed RedCine-X Beta 9, the new firmware, and Rocket, and it's all working very slowly. Playback at 1/2 res is fine, but the transcodes are super slow compared to previous builds.

I turned on verbose logging, and it's causing it, I think, to crash repeatedly...I turned it off and now everything is back to slow motion but functional.

Where should we send these log files now?

Should I re-install everything?

also...thumbnails are not showing up consistently when I move clips to bins. some do, some do not. they just show black, or gray if you click on them - they play back fine, though.

Peter, I've been able to recreate the issue and am working on a fix now.

Marcos, the size and position of the main window is not currently saved between sessions.
This will be corrected in the next release.

Nik, we're working on reducing the app's minimum size so it fits on lower resolution screens.

Oh okay perfect! I just didn't know if anyone was aware of it yet. Thanks for the response!

I had the same problem Nik, but there's a way to do shrink Resolve down to fit a MBP 13 or 15 by entering one of the following in terminal:

13"
Code:
defaults write com.blackmagic-design.davinci.Resolve AppleDisplayScaleFactor 0.67

15"
Code:
defaults write com.blackmagic-design.davinci.Resolve AppleDisplayScaleFactor 0.85

To undo this when a fix is released, enter this in terminal:

Code:
defaults write com.blackmagic-design.davinci.Resolve AppleDisplayScaleFactor 1

Does any one know how to delete the RedCine-X cache and preferences on a Mac?

You can delete the following folders to delete the cache and preferences, respectively.

{your home directory}/Library/Application Support/Red/RedCineX/Cache
{your home directory}/Library/Application Support/Red/RedCineX/Preferences

Thanks Grant

Looks like those folders are hidden?

I can not find that folder even in the terminal.

My Export Setting are not working correctly.

RCX keep exporting to a single export status even if I set it to separate, files are separated in the end.

Also the location of the export folder can not be set to new folder.

RCX is grabbing the write to folder info from a really old version. I don't know where it is.

Michael, it seems that OS X Lion does indeed hide the Library folder.

The following page describes how to view the folder in the Finder:
http://osxdaily.com/2011/07/22/access-user-library-folder-in-os-x-lion/

You should still be able to see the folders using Terminal. Try this:
ls ~/Library/Application Support/Red/RedCineX

Note that deleting those folders won't help with the export preset problems you're having.
There is a known issue with RCX prompting for an output folder when it shouldn't be that's been fixed for the next release.

I posted on the 2nd page, asking about firmware upgrade. Do you have to flip the #8 switch every single time you update the firmware? Last time I did this it messed up a RR. I don't want that to happen again. Anyone else having firmware update issues when upgrading RCX-Pro from 8 to 9?

When I try and launch RCX-P b9 the program starts but hangs before the GUI is displayed. I can see the process under Windows task manager but that is all. If I double click the icon to start it a second time the GUI does pop up but I get an "Red Rocked already used by another program" error.

Beta8 was was working just fine.

FYI
Win7/64
RR driver 1.4.7.0 Firmware 1.1.14.38
nVidia GTX 480

Yes I can no longer playback or render in realtime using RCX-Pro 9. I still have a version of RCX 501 on my system and it renders in realtime so the firmware seems to be working.
