  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

REDCINE-X Professional Update... Build 3 Beta.

After a little exploring I found this thread for anyone who has also been confused by the Save Current Look to Camera feature and expecting to use it to export a look for use on the Epic.

http://reduser.net/forum/showthread.php?64296

I guess, perhaps re-label that option in the File Menu in RCX-Pro to "Save Current Look to R1 Camera" for clarity and add detail in the Epic Ops camera manual as to where to place RMD's in the folder structure for the camera to find them?

I'm getting an error decoding frames when I try to export a 2K, 300fps shot, and I can't figure out why.
I re-installed redrocket firmware and drivers and I also tried an earlier version of REDCine...487...still getting error decoding...
Anyone out there with any info on this???

In Export, the "skip if exists" function causes a consistent crash. It skips the first clip, then crashes going to the second clip. Mac Version. OS 10.6.8

D,
I was able to reproduce this issue you found. It looks to have already been fixed for the next proposed beta release. Thanks.

Is RED no longer updating the "Cructial Ordinance" section with the latest builds of Redcine-X (PRO) ?

Is this Beta 3 build of Redcine-Pro the latest and greatest version?

With products like Storm dropping away, shouldn't RED feature Redcine Pro on the Support page of their site?

I've requested being on an email list for updates in the past. I don't own a camera but I do need to get to the latest tools with out guessing that I have found the most recent version of the software.

I'm pretty sure Rec Cine X is automatically updated.

Pro might... which I have yet to download... but REDCINE X does not auto update.

Trying to refer my staff to download the latest version of the pro version... why can't this be someplace obvious?

Brandon,
The most recent release of Redcine-X Pro is the Beta 3 version. It can be downloaded from the very first thread of this discussion (posted by Jim). After you/your staff have installed the Pro version, there is a new feature which will prompt you/your staff whenever there is a new release of Redcine-X Pro.

Is it possible in RCXPro to take a shot and reframe/zoom it?

I'm doing 1080p exports and I want to really punch in on my 5k shot (5k master FTW) right there in RCXPro, trying to avoid the more laborious workflow of exporting at full size and then reframing in FCP or AfterEffects

Use the framing setup.

Sure.

It should be pretty self explanatory if you have a look at the framing options (lower right if I remember correctly).

You can specify a frame size, like 1080p, and uncheck scaling. Then when you pull out the frame, whatever is in it will be exported.

Use the framing setup.

Did it, and that was painful, because I couldnt reposition the red box, I could only grab each wall in turn. That and the 'force ratio' is buggy, I'd keep having to retrigger it. But yeah, I finally got it to give me what I wanted.

I grade my shots at 4K and just reframe in the editor (FCP7) to match what ever reframing we may have done in the offline... much easier than doing this in RCX and it allows you to change your mind.
