  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

REDCINE-X Professional Update... Build 3 Beta.

Awesome update, especially MC Color integration. Love the customizeability and options, just a couple suggestions.

The display names for the rotary encoders at top don't change when you re assign them.
Reset Kelvin option resets to 5600, would be nice if it would reset to camera metadata.
The lgg wheels are much better sensitivity wise, but they still seem a touch too sensitive to me. A slider to customize would be ideal.
It would be nice if the page left and right would allow to go to a second and third page of rotary encoder options, so you could set the second page up for controlling curves, for example.

Other than that, this seems awesome. The update function is great to have as well. I may have to switch over to RCX Pro for the tv show I'm on.

You said the same thing I did last week! At least I know I'm not alone... :-)

Many may not realize, that even not owning the camera yet, this software make them kind of RED-users.

I would suggest the RED-Team to offer a little package of R3D-clips in different qualities available alongside the download. For new and potential users.

That would be great...

I'd like to make a suggestion that I can't see implemented yet, for HDRx:

Please allow separate look control over the A and X frames.

A classic example is shooting a shop interior (tungsten lit) with the X frame being the street scene outside, daylight lit (by the sun).

Would be great to independently adjust both frames to balance them against each other as well as adjusting curves independently etc.

Thanks for all the work Red Team!

Cheers from Tokyo,

Paul :)

Anyone getting an error where the version 2 puts up a licence window asking to agree after I have installed version 3?

Ross,

Are you on Mac or Windows? Can you post a screenshot of what you're seeing or email one to redcinex at red dot com?

Thanks,

Grant

I am on a Macbook pro with Lion. When I start up Redcine X Pro version 3 a window appears asking to ok the licence agreement for version 2.

Weird...

I am also with Lion, on a MBP 17" Thunderbolt edition, and when I did the upgrade via the "Check for updates" inside RCX-Pro, it was downloaded no problem, then installed and restarted, with no issues.

Actually what appears is when I have started up Redcine X Pro version 3 it starts up the program no problems. When I go to open a saved file from a previous session a window pops up which has REDCINE-X_Pro_2_Beta.dmg as the title with a Red Software License agreement and Agree /Disagree at the bottom. There is no way to get rid of the window.

now I have deleted all versions of Redcine X Pro and down loaded the latest version again. I also deleted any saved RC files. After doing that I go to open a file and the licence agreement window for version 2 pops up and I can't get rid of it unless I reboot computer.

Ross,

The DMG file is just a packaging format. When you open up the DMG file, take the REDCINE-X Pro.app and drag it to your /Applications folder. You'll no longer need to open the .DMG file from this point out and you won't see the SLA any longer.

Hi Grant
Thanks for your help.....now I have now for the second time deleted all versions of Redcine X Pro and down loaded the latest version again. I also deleted any saved RedCine project files. After installing I drag the REDCINE X PRO.app into the applications folder. Then I open the program and if I click on file at the top of the screen immediately the licence agreement window for version 2 pops up and I can't get rid of it unless I reboot computer. Now even when REDCINE X PRO is closed every time I try to open a file through file menu the licence agreement for version 2 pops up and it won't let me do anything on the computer. I cant even attach the screen shot!!

Thanks
Ross

Setting a preset for "Frame Crop" is screwy... at Center Crop, the crop shifts to the left when preset is applied. (at least for me this is happening)

Hello
I downloaded this version. Installation went smooth, opens great. But when I import a FCP XML file. There are 3 choices where to import the footage: 1) Sequence. 2) Active Bin. 3) Export.
I select Active Bin. I hit OK. But it only imports them into a sequence. I don't see the footage in a Bin. I am doing something wrong. I looked everywhere and I can't find the any BIN.
Any advice would be appreciated.
Best

Ricardo,

The behavior in RCX Pro for Import XML is slightly different than in previous versions. RCX Pro will treat XML sequences as sequences, and bins as bins. ie., you are importing an xml that contains a sequence, and RCX Pro is putting that sequence into your project. Really there is no difference between Active Bin and Timeline when importing an XML. This distinction is more useful when importing an EDL or ALE file.

I have had some weird things happen while cropping as well. I had to manually input the pixels to get a 16:9 from a 2.4:1 2k from Epic. Usually I can just do center crop and lock aspect ratio, but it wouldn't work for me.
