  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

REDCINE-X Professional Build 5...

hey wait - when did this sneak in??

so excited to play with Alchemy today!

so many thrilling distractions...I feel like I'm standing under a waterfall....

Could someone clarify exactly what Alchemy does? I've been looking at the scopes and can't quite suss it out... Is it a custom S-Curve adjustment? How does this differ from the contrast tool that already exists?

It is unlike any curve or contrast tool. Just use it when it seems relevant.

For me, that is 100% of the time between 35-50%.

Thanks for that Jim, I'm just interested from a colourist point of view. I'm on Nucoda's and Baselight's most of the time and just wondered what it was comparable to tool wise.

It kind of feels like Local Adaptation adjustment when using HDR Tonal mapping in photoshop if i recall... been a while since i've done any of that... or local contrast enhancement... but yeahno.. still Magic.

magic bullet is starting to become obsolete this way! If people at Red are not too busy, I would also like to ask a few questions, so it's easier to know what's going on! For instance, the new saturation, in which way is that different than the first one? And the clarity and skin sliders, are they rcxpro's version of magic bullet's Diffusion? I know I should work with it and find it out but I tend to get lost in experiments that take hours, when my wife thinks I should be doing other things :biggrin5:

Upgraded. My RRocket is not making it at 1/2 res when some alchemy and film look are added, 4480x1920

Thanks for Build 5!!! Works great!

Automatic update is crashing every time for this version, anyone experiencing the same issue?
Doesn't actually crash my program, but the RCX Pro doesn't allow me to minimize my screen, only exit it... so the box to accept the license is hidden and I can't check o.k. I've taken to downloading and then it installs over the current version.

Export Slower?

Export Slower?

Hmmm...has export slowed down for anyone else? I have a Red Rocket, and its icon is lit up, but I have a clip that's a couple of minutes long that's taking over a half hour to export to ProRes.

This is amazing - it reminds me of my favorite raw editor (Lightroom 3).
Fantastic job Red !!!! The Alchemy trio is extremely useful. It's all about using very judiciously.

Mike,
Have you applied any effects to your clip??
