  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

REDCINE-X PRO Build 23.2 BETA

Paul,

Currently, you can only export marked frames in a clip, or still frames in a clip with A.D.D. In 23.3, there is no way to export an entire clip with A.D.D. enabled.
Ah, that would explain it!

Hope this comes soon as there's a clip a friend shot that really could use it!

Cheers from Tokyo,

Paul :)

So I was running some tests regarding OpenCL/CUDA processing on RC-X Pro 23.3 Beta on my machine today. It seems that half-debayer premium takes as long to render as full debayer. Can this be right?

I was rendering out an 888 frame 4KHD clip with a Core i7-3930K running at 4.2GHz. The machine has 32GB RAM, 2x Nvidia GTX580 3GB and is running OS X 10.8.5. My rendering times were:
Full debayer CUDA: 44 seconds
Full debayer OpenCL: 45 seconds
Half premium debayer CUDA: 44 seconds
Half good debayer CUDA: 30 seconds

23.3 also lets me "enable" both cards for GPU processing, but this does not seem to have any impact on performance. I guess my CPU is partly where my bottleneck is, but does 23.3 actually support using multiple cards for GPU processing at the same time?

I also feel like performance has gone down from the earlier betas. But then again, there were some image quality issues with the first beta, so maybe fixing them has brought performance down.

I'm having problems exporting from Redcine to H.264. It always fails instantly in the export. Both in the 22.4 version and in the beta version. Anyone else that seen this?
Edit: Seems to have with resolution to do 1/4 clip resolution didnt work, but if I manually chose 1080 or smaller resolutions it seems to work.

Andreas,

That is correct. We have never supported H.264 to resolutions > 1080. You should be getting error messages to that effect.

Thanks,
David

Hi David. Good to know. The error only says "Export Error", I didn't see any more information, could be useful if it said "No higher than 1080p resolution is supported"
Cheers!

I'm getting a weird artifact on the top few lines of my footage when transcoding 5K HD to 1080p ProRes with CUDA. No such artifact on exported stills or when transcoding from 4K HD. Artifact is also gone if I switch to OpenCL debayer.

Tried both full debayer and half debayer and I get the same artifact. Screenshots attached.

300% blowup with CUDA:

With CUDA:

With OpenCL:

Hi Jaako,

Can you contact me at redcinex at red dot com?
I'd like to follow up with you on this.

Thanks,
David

I just got my new Mac Pro and went to download this beta of Redcine X and the link apparently is down. Any chance to still get this?

Hi Michael,

We've released build 30 which incorporates all the Beta functionality, so you'll want to check that out. You can find it on the downloads page.

Cheers,
David

Thanks for the reply. I got the newest build and I'm ready to test this new computer.
