  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

REDCINE-X PRO Build 16 and RED Rocket 1.4.28

Build 4 is the big one coming.. December sometime. Power Management, 1:1 joystick zoom, long exposures, timelapse, pre-record and ramping are just some of the highlights... which also includes your image flip Will :)

For some people.. this is one of those builds that will be like a new camera all over again....

POWER MANAGEMENT! Totally professional kiss!

This sounds like a big one. To think we are only at version 3 of the Epic/Scarlet software, that's like infancy, yet already so powerful. And these cameras are going to improve : Meizler and other modules, new builds, Dragon, etc. Plenty to look forward to, let's not forget to shoot some stuff in between !

Cheers,
Damien

Love the long exposure/timelapse feature, might be time to get rid of the DSLR for night timelapses.

maybe you give us the new firmware at the same time as the dragon sensor ? THIS would be great christmas :-)))

... and don't forget the projector!

thanks for the new firmware and redcinexpro !!!

best, norbert

Just finished downloading everything and getting this error message:

RedRocket #0 Driver and or Firmware is out of date.
This version of REDcine-X requires Driver: 1.4.28.0 and Firmware 1.1.16.8 to use this RedRocket card.

I updated everything so still confused as to why I'm getting this message. I'm using a Mac OS X Version 10.6.8

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Stephen, you probably setup the driver for RR card...but then you need to go to the folder where the firmware is and then double click that...then it opens your OS Terminal and just follow instructions....to install the latest firmware---a step many miss.

I upgraded the Rocket firmware & drivers and installed RCPX16 and am getting occasional decode errors when transcoding:

RR Callback - Decode Failed - Frame: 5629 Item: 0x104473150 Mode: 'DRCR' CustomSize: 1920x1080 PixelType: 0x52423649 ImageBuffer: 0x150cf8600 bufferSize: 0x00BDD800 RowBytes: 11520 RocketStatus: 4 DecodeError: 786467 - Failed to decode (Corrupt Frame?)

The transcoded ProRes clips that have these errors look and play fine with no issues.

I also am getting a bunch of clips from about 8 different RedMags have strobing white frames and those had to be transcoded again. These are not the same clips getting the decode errors. All the clips from one mag will do it, and either 1 mag at a time or a few mags in a row. And it could transcode an entire mag like that and the next mag in the batch will have no issues.

I NEVER had either of these things happen before 2 days ago. I'm running OS X 10.8.1 on a Retina MBP and have a Rocket in a Sonnet Thunderbolt enclosure. I transcoded about 400 clips today. Had 8 clips get the decode error (that I saw) and about 50-60 clips with the white strobing that needed to be transcoded again.

Hi Jarred,

Having long exposures and pre-record are fantastic news.

But... will 1080p FF format be in there? If not, when?

Thanks,
Antony

with identical projects and identical kit I get less stability in 16 than 15. Question:

What Mac OSX is the most stable for RCX, Redrockit and TB chassis?? I had prevously found 10.7.5 to be best?

thanks

Michael L

Michael can you please send us a saved report to "redcinex at red dot com" so we can see what type of stability issues you are having? Also a System profile would be very useful.

Thanks

I upgraded to 16 and could not set QuickTime video export, when I clicked on the video tab nothing happened, audio fine and all other codecs fine, just QuickTime video. Rolled back to 15 and export video screen is back

Paul can you email me at redcinex at red dot com so we can figure out why that did not work for you. I'm going to need to know what type of machine you are using and hopefully get a log file from when it didn't show up.
