Enjoy!

Hey Jarred, is the RCX team still trying to eek out CUDA/OpenCL performance? Is OpenCL still faster than CUDA?

I was kind of hoping you guys would continue the dialogue about GPU acceleration, letting us know when the different types were "fully optimized" and/or still a work in progress. Last official word I can remember was "CUDA is enabled, but nowhere close to OpenCL"...

In any case, awesome stuff deserves Kudos!

Holy crap. That's chewing on those .R3Ds very quickly.

As recently as last week I've done a few tests. OpenCL seems to edge out CUDA. There's a few reasons for this. However, the good news is most modern nVidia cards support OpenCL fully and are indeed very fast.

Even on an old MacPro the Rocket-X flies these days, especially when it teams up with our scary fast PCI SSD setup.

These test numbers are from a Rocket-X in an old MacPro.

Hi Jarred!

Thanks so much. My RRX was used on a feature and performed flawlessly for 2 months, in Chassis ! This will be a bonus.

Any timeline on the Display enabling?

Thank you very much

"Removes support for Kona 3." Does that mean a Kona 3 card will not work? If so, I won't be upgrading. I have both a Kona 3 and 3G, and those AJA cards are about as close to bullet proof as you can get.

Hi Bill,

I'm afraid so. When we upgraded to support the 4 we found AJA had removed support for the 3. So no choice really.

Cheers,
David

Edit: Just want to make clear that the 3G is still supported.

I love having a RED camera. The constant updates are like mini Christmas presents throughout the year. Thanks!

Couldn't agree more. I :001_wub: RED. :)

Thanks, Jarred. Keep up the great work everyone.

Thanks to the RCX team who just keep on kicking ass and pushing and pushing till they can't push anymore.

Jarred,

Thanks to you and all the engineers that make the magic happen. Anyone, Is there a simple way to generate a FFS test like the one shown on this thread on my machine?

What a cool day to have our Red Rocket X arrive! Just in time for the new ass whoopin's! Yeah! Thanks to the RCX team! 'preciate cha! Keep the whip crackin' Jarred! We just keep gettin' better an better!

Guys... Just did a quick real world speed test, without getting into the details of my system: Export of a 5k, 60fps 1 hour movie to 1080p ProRes4444 at 60fps.... the old driver and firmware did it in 124 minutes.... the new firmware and driver did it in 105 minutes.... a little more than 15% faster..... This is a HUGE help for me. Also it is the biggest speed increase my system has ever seen for FREE!!!! Thanks Red!!!

amazing thx

Great news!

feature suggestion.

ADD snapshot mode. Let's you pull a 10 frame snapshot so that you can use ADD on the resulting trimmed clip. I know this could be done with Trim R3D, but I think ADD snapshot could be very useful.
