Screw call-outs are not going anywhere. Would love to not need them, but unfortunately you all just love putting the wrong size bolts into holes... it used to be our #1 warranty repair... by a large margin. Since we started using callouts, that reduced that tremendously. Just be happy we don't call out the length as well :)

So that one is because of you... not us.

That's the cool ones actually. All black with screw callouts ^^

My Epic-M takes baby Metric screws and 1/4-20's on the top plate and Torx in the lens plate. Lovin the 3 tool gig ;-)

The latest video shows branding that is perfect to me. I still want the little front jewel to say WEAPON and I want my camera to still be called the WEAPON, RED please do not change it.

I just looked up the definition of WEAPON in the Webster dictionary and it seems like the perfect name to me. Not sure why there is even a debate about this.

" something (such as a skill, idea, or tool) that is used to win a contest or achieve something "

There's a debate about it because the MAJORITY of professionals on this board dislike the name.

Why is it so hard for some to grasp the concept and continuously try to belittle and shut down and laugh at the opposing voices?

Jarred already spoke. If you love the name, have it tattooed on your forehead, if not, go stealth. Simple.
I'm glad there's at least an option.

It's good to voice an opinion. RED has responded to those who desire a less branded Weapon.

However, you'll notice that the poll right now is about 50/50 with the majority not caring or liking the name.

True. I'm just just waiting for those who were dismissing the poll as being worded poorly and therefore being inaccurate when the results were not in their favor, to come back and claim victory. Ha.

Also, I don't see why the "I don't care" vote would be joined with "I love the name" vote, instead of "I dislike the name" vote? Why 50/50 and not 70/30?

Hope this keeps the debate going for another 20 pages. :)

Same style choice here . . . GT3 RS . . . which style of exterior is more powerful? I'm in for the white one ;-)

:-)

The title of the thread (Arguably the question folks were drawn in to answer.) is "The Red Weapon Name Poll - Change it or not?" The question is either/or and so should the responses be. It should not be multiple choice. That fragments one side and skews the resulting numbers.

Presenting the results of one question as if they answer another question "What do you think of the name Red Weapon?" is erroneous in itself if not disingenuous. It is not representative.

I think either/or questions yield more precise data by their nature.

If you wanted to break down the results further to determine the why for and what not you would do so with additional, separate questions.

Still it is for naught. The major flaw still lies in the sample. Wording and format problems are secondary.

Will be interesting to see if people now start saying how valuable polls are! LOL.

So the 3rd option is actually part of the first option? What a unique poll.

Either way there is a stealth version and now the branding has been reduced on the non stealth. Sanity came through more than I thought it would.

Exactly what? The possible answers were:
keep it
change it
I don't care

those options are very different from:
love it
hate it
don't care

Not everyone who would change the name hates it, nor do all who would keep the name love it. The point is made though; the don't care constituency could fall in either camp. That is why the three part option is illegitimate and inaccurate relative to the real question.

I was really wishing that Homer Simpson could have had the last word. :001_smile:

I think we are saying the same thing.

My point was the 3rd option should not be directly lumped in with the 1st option. The 3rd is a weird split I agree.

The poll had organically grown in votes until recently (like a couple days ago) but a sudden spike is curious.

Might have something to do with the global coverage of Weapon increasing since Jarred's been dropping nearly daily drops and tech/blog sites are covering.

And yes, I agree that it's not "lumped", but going by %, which everybody here is so reliant on it tells the 49.63% at the moment want the name changed.

However, none of this is relevant anymore as the name isn't changing. And RED is offering the stealth solution.

Which also in my mind means this thread is just chatter :)

practically it is...

and also if there aren't any new voices adding new arguments to the argument, even ideologically, this thread is by now redundant...

I'm not so sure about two different names for the same camera.
Partly why I suggested the branding "W" as an (security) alternative to WEAPON.
It keeps it clean, uncluttered and all in the same camp. WEAPON OR "W" (or a stylized W like VV).

There won't be two different names. They will all be Weapon. One, referred to in this thread as "the stealth option," just won't have the word "Weapon" splashed all over it.
