RED TWO

I just want to keep track on thinking about RED TWO as a sort of RED big surprise (idea) at NAB 2011.

The tread where this idea was was first time presented has got in totally another direction (sorry and it's not my fault!).

Never mind but here we go:

The future is REDCODE to the masses

that means to make a camera for $1000 bucks

with the best IQ possible (no line skipping, aliasing, moire, etc...).

Sensor size of S35mm (max 2K DI) and interchangeable mount (PL, PV, Canon EOS electronic, Nikon F electronic, Leica M, Leica S2 electronic, etc...).

The files (footage) can be equally shawn and distributed from upcoming iPad HD (HD tablets),

web, HD plasmas (home theater ) to the digital cinema theater (2K).

Again to repeat with a such lightweight camera device (combination of magnesium alloy body and plastic) that costs just $1000 bucks.

That is how you can make the future and also get leadership in the industry.

RED has this technology (REDCODE, MX sensor, lightweight camera body), it's just about a decision to do the right thing and to finally finished the concept in right way.

And after that maybe later you can try out to sell to the masses 4K+3D, etc,...

Right now best thing it's just about to do opposite:

Not now do a bigger thing (aka Monstro), no enlargement, etc, at the moment,...maybe later,...

Give them (hungry masses) the best lightweight HD camera (so called a professional camera) just for $1000 bucks.

When you spread REDCODE to the masses of millions (it's like a virus) than later is easy to do whatever you want 4K, 5K , 6K, 3D, 4D, +++...

And don't forget that a wider spread of the REDCODE (codec) is a key player in this game!!!

As I said before the best surprise from RED at NAB 2011 would be something like a RED TWO for $1000 Bucks.

Also this specifications are subject to change without notice.

As you can see that some the major tech specs were cut @ 1/2 from the existing RED ONE tech specs.

That's one of reason the new lightweight camera is called RED TWO.

All that means is to deliver a product with specs, weight and price that any of "1080p alliance" member can't make it any time soon.

To spread use of REDCODE even wider and that's the way how you can concur this digital cinema acquisition format battle.

After that you can any offer size and format you want (4K, 5K, 6K, 8K, together with 3D, 4D, or whatever is coming next +++)

You can' beat 1080p alliance-competition* with 4K, 5K+ today but you can beat them in their domain resolution 1080p.

Or if you can't beat them with 4K then join them @ 1080p and then beat them.

Just deliver in their field this thing they can't: A lightweight 1080p RAW recording affordable camera for $1000 Bucks.

Beat them in their's 1080p resolution (weapon) but using REDCODE as a munition.

That could be the best strategy.

* HDDSLRs, ARRI Alexa, Panavision Genesis, Sony F35, etc,...

The descibed RED 2 would be the best thing ever... it would destroy the dslr market and be the only camera I would ever need...

1080p RAW would mean 1920x1080 bayer and not 2560x1300. And therefore would not have 1920x1080 resolution...

And here we are again with a system that RED has avoided : low res & aliasing systems...

Don't you think so Sanjin?

Patrick

not going to happen since RED went pro Sanjin.

This is more like how asians company think... shooting for TODAY,.

RED is aiming for TOMORROW.

id settle for a GoPro style 720p redcode (fixed or 2/3 interchangable) with a decent interface for under 2000.

The Red Two sounds crazy. Why start announcing new cameras, when Epic and Scarlet are just starting to come out.

Red accessories, and investments into the film industry and education are what we need other than cameras other than Epic and Scarlet for now.

I thought RED TWO was two RED ONE MX's bolted together and with whatever logic was necessary to make a killer 3D camera.

... Asian or a German company...

Patrick
RED TWO is about to topple down all these pro 1080p digital cine overpriced gadgets

and to spread REDCODE with software tools worldwide then with that to gain power and start later to rule the market with 4K+ acquisition...

RED TWO is actually mid term solution for a later wide spread of EPIC...

Also RED TWO is a sort of dialectical method-turn (around up side down) to get in 4K stage but with wide spread of REDCODE done with 1080p solution before JUST to gain more or a real power on the market....

It's a sort of spin that the competition can't get it right away about what is going on (surprise) but should soon after that accept and follow the new (4K) rules...

now were talking. One built like a tank with that big awesome logo on it ;)

Sanjin, I think you need to be careful with your language here...

You're talking about this camera as if it already exists. It doesn't and it will never. I appreciate you wanting to speculate, but at least make it clear that this is your idea, not Red's.

I appreciate you wanting to speculate, but at least make it clear that this is your idea, not Red's.

Definitely!!!

But the forum was always a sort of free and open thinking of landscape garden design for a birth of brand new great idea...

I amended the title of the thread so as not to give false hopes.

I'd be surprised if RED came with a camera <3k resolution. But whatever could put a stop to the DLSR madness would be welcomed.

Martin,

agree and that was a basic and initial idea about RED TWO (Speculation) tread.

For the worldwide video masses a taste of RAW (REDCODE) @ 1080p for for about $1000 Bucks is an "insanely great" idea...

RED owes this sort of technology and should do this (right) thing!!! (Finally!!!!).

I have been saying for several years now that there is a huge, gaping hole in the market:

S35 3K RAW Bayer sensor
Interchangeable lenses
60 fps

Maybe you could call is Scarlet 35.

It would be a way to lure newcomers into the ways of Red.

Unless this surprise is completely out of nowhere, I can't see RED going to a camera in the $1,000 price range unless it had a very stripped down set of features. Not sure that would fit their business model right now.

Reaching the masses in terms of distribution, maybe a different story.

I would be shocked if RED went this direction. Jim has already stated that RED is a professional camera company. I don't think he'd want to directly compete with Sony/Canon/etc. on a camera that inexpensive, as their greater economies of scale. The profit margins are just waaaayyyy to thin in that segment of the business.

I've seen some pretty wild speculation on reduser in the past. This thread just took over as most speculative.

Tom.

think about a talented kid (call him in this case Stanley Kubrik if you want):

When he was a kid he was playing with 8mm film camera from his father,

when he was grown up then he became a great movie director (was shooting s35mm film).

Why not repeat this story today(?):

When he was a kid he was playing with RED TWO 1080p RAW (REDCODE) camera from his father,

when he was grown up then he became a great movie director (was shooting 5K EPIC).

If we are gonna enter dreamworld.... why not just go the whole way?

S35, 6k, 5000fps, 24 stops DR, built in 50TB harddrive... the size of an iphone, underwater, 3D, built in 4K projector, fixed T1 6mm-1000m lens.

$39.99 from your local walmart.
