  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Red Store

The store with pictures looks great!!! Thanks for putting it up, Team RED.

Well, the Base Production Pack is a real bargain! By adding up all the individual parts it becomes a lot more expensive.

One question... What is the length of the rods included in the base production pack? Is it 24"?

A cheeseplate is a plate for cheese of course. heheh

actually you can use it for mounting the camera. many holes many possibilities.

but I think a more info button or exploded view would be helpfull

I saw that too, but I thought it happened because the RED DRIVE wasn't ready and everyone in the first 25 group had no other option besides shooting CF. That would be cool if the CF module is now standard.
 
This is all speculation and will likely be put to rest soon enough, but as it is of much interest to many users, it does seem to justify a bit of discussion.

We might be dealing with something as simple as the website being in transition and many of the MIA options will soon be populated when they get real photographs to include.

The CF port is a virtual necessity as this is the firmware update path (at least for now).

My suggestion to the web page designer would be that a lot of concern on the part of viewers about potentially dropped options could be avoided by have a single category of coming soon with just a text list of options not yet fully included in the latest store build.
 
Nice Work !! The stuff looks great, well designed.

Could you make the Red Cradle more modular so that if we are not using the Red Drive we can remove the middle section ( and basically make it act like Red Quick )

Ditto - I grabbed that thing and said to myself - "no way in hell... too heavy". I mean, I go to the gym, but I don't want to bring barbells with me on every shoot. :-)

Totally understandable and I wasn't worried about things mysteriously "going away" but it seems like it might be a smart thing to do to at least have place holder "coming soon" spots for these things. Not for the reduser community (who could all probably recite the list from memory) but for the casual Red "Lookie Lou's", especially with all the IBC attention at the moment. Just a thought.

It is a $500 option that is not mandatory. But we STRONGLY recommend that every customer consider it. So far, every camera has gone out with it.

We will continue to add accessories as they become available. Birger Engineering is handling all the Canon mounts.

The RED RAM is coming. It will show back up as soon as we receive 2.5" SATA flash that is fast enough. Certainly by the end of the year.

The only thing that has gone away is the Premium Package.

Does that mean the 50-150mm zooms are available? :)
 
Guys...read the posts from the RED Team. The only thing that will not be available is the premium production pack. Everything else is still on track to be available by the end of the year (tentatively).

Rest easy, everything that we've been told up to this point has been accurate and there is no reason to start doubting now.

Why can't more camcorders use CF? somebody just tell me why.

that new store makes me wanna buy everything.
 
wait.... I'm sorry for maybe indirectly calling the RED camera a mere camcorder.
