Go check out the store boys ... it's different.
We've come a long way since the 3D renders.

Its great to see real product images, but I can't seem to find the FD mount. Did I somehow miss it?

Is the compact flash port standard now? I just see the cards listed. I thought at one point it was a $500 option.

Another good point. Now it looks like there are at least two items that aren't present. Hope its just a case of not having images to build the page and will be rectified soon.

Red stoped selling cameras?

Red stoped selling cameras?

hi, anyone has infos ..
since some month i try to get a OrderId on a order i placed.
since, i send several emails, made phone calls, send faxes several times!

bot never got an answer.
does that mean red stooped selling cameras?
any more infos anyone?

The image of the body on the site shows the CF port from what I can tell on my little computer. Doesnt' mean it's included, but that would be cool. Have to do something with that part of the camera. :)

Awesome, the store looks much better now.

I wish they'd update the images in the main site to real photos though... And it would be nice to be able to hide the shopping cart bar at the bottom too.

yep maybe the flash port is now standard and other stuff is more expensive.. How much was the original basic prod pack? Now we need to buy the shoulder mount to add to it for $550, and it would seem that we'll need to buy cables for the evf and lcd seperately, although the picture of the lcd has cable and arm included. I also see that the HD drive is not listing it's capacity. I guess they'll keep upgrading it as the component hard drives get bigger and faster.

i think some additional infos would be nice and very helpful - maybe via a small button next to the product saying "more info".
so that dummies like me can learn, what the quicktplate or cheese plate is for.
everything else i already know ;)

So RED RAM no longer exists? At SMPTE they were claiming 96GB for RED RAM. I ordered two, on the basis of that, with a hefty deposit. And now they don't exist? Am I going to be forced to use tiny little CF cards? We were planning lots of shots that last more than a minute, but if we have to use these tiny CF cards, we're in trouble. We'll be changing cards every other shot. I was so relaxed about using RED RAM. I certainly don't want to use the Red drive, as we'll be stedi-cam most of the time. I guessed this might happen when Jim hinted that the CF slot was sort of obligatory.

Can anybody confirm? Is the RED RAM dead?

What about the EVF, does it not come with the Red Arm and short cable any more? I can understand if there was a discovery that some things cost a bit more then anticipated to manufacture, but it also becomes more difficult for the buyer. Hopefully it's still with it - at least for us with early commitments. Of course I want all the goodies I can, but need to be practical with budget as we as production needs. Would like to go with both monitor and EVF, but perhaps one will need to be cut or put on indefinite hold if prices mount too much.

The cable shown by itself looks like the optional longer cable, the cable with the EVF and the LCD looks like the short one that comes bundled with it.

I am sure they are still including the Arm with the EVF.. It would be nuts not too. Like everything else, they are still working out the kinks.

Some of the stuff gave me sticker shock, but when I added it up, it looks like you can build your own premium production pack for about the same price it was selling for.. That's very good news.

One thing I would be gratful for: Would be some sample photos of different builds of the camera and then an inventory list of what I need to buy in order to get it. So many little parts, not sure what I need.

I liked the setup at the last NAB with the 4 round handles..

I think we're all jumping the gun here.. As we know the site was only changed last night.. Let's give it 24 hours and see if there are any additions and/or changes.

IMHO

I have been wondering if the CF module is included now ever since Jim posted this.

RED is fluid. Things change. That is not a bad thing if the motive is good.

Change is fundamental to RED. Specs change. So far, our design and specs have changed for the better. The original RED ONE (NAB 2006) had no REDCODE RAW. Originally 4K could ONLY be recorded out the RAW port. REDCODE RAW turned out to be one of the things that makes RED so important. You now can record to Compact Flash. We didn't charge extra for it.
