I am quite sure of this as well, but I need to be 100% sure, and that Requires and answer from someone at RED. After all, we are talking about a $250 CF card reader
This thing better rock!

Yes.. the base station is like a really nice power strip that does a better job at sending cleaner power to each module than separate wall warts does, and also is a solid foundation for the stack.
Its modular. .you don't need it if you don't want it, that is kinda the whole point of the modular system. Same as the CF module, or the 2.5" or 1.8" module.. you dont need to buy them if you don't need them![]()
$250 just to do away with the power cables?
but we could do without the base and power it up straight from the outlet and connect it to a computer for offloading?
Jarred earlier in the thread...
"There is a 1.8" REDMAG SSD card that will be released, that card will be used to record footage on camera via the 1.8" SSD Camera Module. The REDSTATION 1.8" Module to read that card will come out over the next few weeks.
The 2.5" REDMAG RED STATION module will accept normal 2.5" bare drives, so you can put a bare drive in ( Spinning or SSD ) and use it as an external hard drive, to offload cards to or for storage, etc."
