  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

RED STATION 1.8" and 2.5"

Jarred,

I take back my earlier, mean spirited comments about "stupid shit RED does."

My apologies.

O dont worry.. we will do some more stupid shit soon enough for your comments to be valid again :)

Dynamic Duo... This is the first time any of you have seen the new machined SSD mags as well:

Note the new lip at the end of the card for grip with a direct negative on the reverse to allow for staking.

Wow. How did I miss this post?

It's amazing how the RED One gets better all the time.

First limited batch of Side SSD modules for the RED ONE and SSD Media go on sale next Wed.

Happy holidays :)

Any chance we can get a picture of the MACHINE (sparks and all) machiningg this stuff? (shot with an EPIC of course. :)

Also can you please answer:

RED ONE SSD Module $1500
EPIC SSD Module $??

Thanks!

How about some Betacam-like "tape" boxes for these. Just cheap plastic shit to house each mag - even when it's in another Pelican-style case with its buddies. And, if you do this, please, please, please, make them grippy, not slippy. Bain of my life trying to carry a stack of tapes and having them slip all over the show. Interlocking I say!

Man it gets exciting around here!

Noted... At least you guys, in all your mad-hatted-ness, are consistent. I'll patiently wait for the announcement that the new Epic modules are shipping, before the brains themselves are available. :willy_nilly:

That RedMag is a thing of beauty...makes a Compact Flash card look like an ugly, simpleton second-cousin by comparison :zombie_smiley:

Hope no one gets trampled in the Red Store this coming Black Wednesday.

this going to be crazy...I hope you have a big load of these in stock...or may be limit quantity per customer to start with, so we can all get a chance of getting one...

It's not just RED... Nikon shipped me the lenses for the Epic two months ago.:biggrinjester:

Just rec'd email Red is shipping my RED STATION REDMAG 1.8”. Should have no later than Monday...would love to now match that with a groovy machined SSD side module and funktastical mags to go with!

Jarred,

Can the R1 use lighter compression/higher framerates with the SSD ?

Thanks

Antoine

Yes, oddly, we're all going to take shipments of the SSD Red Mags that do nothing without media and the R1 module. Hope they're not far behind...

Only Days behind... lots of testing on the units before we ship them.

We are limiting qty per customer to 5 pieces each till we clear up the backlog.

At least for the moment no, the maximum REDCODE value available from RED ONE - with either M or MX sensor - remains as REDCODE 42.

The main benefits of SSD for a RED ONE user are much longer record times, significantly lower cost per GB, and extremely fast data offload.
