Bingo. That's the one. And as you can see in the second image there it plugs straight into the camera. You'll need the Quick Back and the QB Battery Back (Swit/IDX).

There was no vignetting shooting with the tokina at 4k?

@ 4k there's absolutely no vignetting on the Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8. At 5k at deep apertures you can see it creeping in on the corners.

Phil,

Great tests...thanks for posting and I look forward to the 3k/48fps as well as the night footage...really good looking stuff...

Great test, and the music is awesome! Downloading your album right now, Phil.

Thanks everybody.

I shot 3k and night stuff yesterday. Just need to edit that into some sort of interesting form. That will happen today/tonight.
I might also include some other miscellaneous tests in there too.

To answer a few questions:

Phil, thank you for all the comprehensive updates. What kind of gear rings are you using on your canon lenses?

Anybody know what kind of gear rings Phil is using? They look really solid.

Those would be the Shoot35 Flexigears. They work nearly identical to the Zacuto gears, but are much less expensive. They have their pros and cons. They always live on my lenses and everything still fits in my bag. However, I use Redrock Micro's big nasty clamp on gears occasionally too. This helps with the short focus throw on still lenses. The downside there is you have to take them off when you put lenses back in the bag.

In the beginning of the video, there are two white diagonal lines in the sky.. What is causing this? Is this due to the flare issue people have been reporting?

That's actually flare from the lens/filter combo. I'm doing these tests without a matte box for two reasons. 1. To see what sort of flare effects I would like to use when the situation calls for them. 2. To see what I want to block out when working with light shooting into the lens.

I can report that flare issue exists. It's actually not that bad. I call it a "double bounce" flare. Mostly because when you tilt with a light on the Y axis you'll see the initial flare, then it vanishes for a moment, and poof it's back! A matte box will solve this "issue" or any one of the flare guard solutions. It's there, but it could even be used to your advantage. I have one specific shot from yesterday that shows a creative use for it.

I've got a couple interesting things to shoot in the coming days. One of which I would consider "event" lighting, which will be fun to test.

I have more thoughts to share, but I'll post them with the material later.

Thanks Phil. Great looking footy, even in the compressed video you can really see the insane amount of captured detail of the shot. I love the interior shot of a lamp (or some funky thing) and there is still plenty of detail out the window...not blown out at all!

....hmm, now what was all that stink people were making about Canon lenses about a week ago! ;)
