Hi Liam, congrats .

My touchscreen arrives Monday.... ish & I should be able to source some v mounts . However aren't you heading away soon & returning a several days later ? Maybe in that interval your other bits will turn up..... if not we should talk.

Sorry I was typing this whilst you where writing the above ^.

Hey Mike, thanks mate!

...Ahhhhh your touch screeeeeeeen. LMAO. This truly baffles me.
Bits or not, would be great to meet up regardless. Note: I have V mount and batteries, so on that front I'm good to go.

It's kind of like if I was to buy a pair of Oakley sunglasses online direct from the company, they send me the little screws first, then maybe the sunglass frame, then the actual sunglass lenses.

Congrats man, I'm in the same boat this week, cold gray lady with no monitor no side handle... that AC cord is pretty cruel huh.

hey Lliam, did you have to buy an international adaptor for the charger?

Excellent news Liam - Hope the rest follows on quickly so you can finally get to use the business-end of the kit ;)

Congrats on your delivery Lliam, sounds like you should have your touch LCD soon enough, or access to one before then. In the meantime you get to appreciate the artistry of the object itself :)

Getting a camera with no way to control it's functions does make me wonder though whether it's possible for RED to send out the bodies pre-configured to just start up and shoot. If, as the last stage of a cameras' testing, they were to just leave the camera's set to record at some mid-range ISO/frame-rate/compression levels, people could just shoot blind and at least see if their camera's working and do some basic testing. If it's something to do with the SSD's having to be formatted before use, maybe that could be done externally by the end user...I don't know, I guess there's a reason or reasons why it isn't being done. Other Epic or Scarlet users could probably explain what part of the start-up procedure prevents it.

Like Sean, I was curious too about whether it would be better to use an international power-plug/adaptor or just replace the plug-in power cords/leads of the battery chargers and AC adaptors with Aus standard cords/leads. I don't know enough about it so am just assuming it's safe to run 240 volts through cords designed for 120 volt operation (with a US to Aus plug adaptor), but I'd want to be sure before actually trying it. It might be a trivial matter in the greater scheme of things, and maybe they just haven't gotten around to it, but supplying the appropriate power leads/plugs for the different needs of their customers is something RED should be able to do something about.

Anyway, thanks for letting us know the camera arrived etc.

No problem Lliam,

I'm on the North Shore so not that far from you. Let me know if you want to come by anytime, always welcome.

Jim

Hi Jim,

I'm based on the Central Coast, Copacabana Beach. So your offer is fantastic. I go away Saturday on a writing retreat for ten day to Byron and my Rep advised
my Touch should have shipped by then, so hopefully will be waiting when I get back. If it hasn't though, I would really appreciate being able to take you up on your offer.

Best Wishes

Lliam

The Red Volt charger is 110-240 and has a figure 8 removable plug so you can just pop a local one into it wherever you are. Very easy.

Thanks Jim. That's great and very nice of you. Grew up on the Northern beaches, so be nice to visit again.

Hey Les. Thanks mate :) As Jim answered, very easy solution with the power which is great.
Re the other, I think it's all good really, you have to be able to focus at least, so....
I think the last major key is just waiting for RED to expand it's production levels till they can cope and are comparable with it's vision and
incredible product execution.
