RED Scarlet-W - faulty mini mag?

I just received my Scarlet-W a few weeks ago. I've been using it with my 120GB mini mag and it seems to be having problems recording at times. Approximetely 1 out of 10 shots stutter when pressing the record button.

Usually the red dot on the top right of the monitor shows when something is recording. Sometimes I need to press the record button 3 times in order for it to properly record. The first two attempts usually start recording and then immediately stops (a yellow dot shows then goes away), resulting in many clips that are less than a second long. I have tried updating the firmware and formatting the card, but I still have the same problem.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Have you tried "secure format"? It is in the media menu. Secure format rebuilds the "database" on the mini-mag.
If that does not work, save a log-file and send it to red for evaluation and assistance.

Do you have any issue with clips when reviewing them on the computer ?

Your 'Red dot' / recording issue could be just related to pressing it twice too quickly... normally a full press RECORD (button also has a half press detection for other functions...) will start recording and confim with the dot (may not be shown immediately but within the next second)

Update: Turns out the problem is from the Wooden Camera Trigger handle itself. Thanks for the help.

Cool. One of the liabilities of such a modular system is the entire build has more vulnerablities, esp when one isn't working
