  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

RED Rocket update...

Perhaps the other way round. Notice that they do OEM...
I would not be surprised if the RR was custom version based on the Perseus...

Peter

Either way.. it's all good :thumbsup::thumbsup:

Newb question, what is quad hdmi for, 4 monitors? or for feeding one 4k res monitor?

How about a miniRED Rocket to let us 2/3" guys fly at full speed?

Realtime 2K, full-debayer? ~ 1000 $?

I wouldn't complain. :sifone:

Agreed! Great suggestion!

Deanan,

Anything you can share on how this will affect the Final Cut Workflow... will we be able to pull in 4k/2k proxies, etc? Raw R3D? Native?

This is revolutionary. Again. ;)

Don't worry,

I'm betting you're gonna hear more detailed specs on June 8th...alongside FCP3 details.

Almost no details out a month before the RedRocket ships. I would expect an NDA on 2 products with features that are closely tied (Red/Red Rocket/FCP3). WWDC is just around the corner!

Just a guess but I'm waiting till next week before buying a new Mac Pro.

Edit: Hello Mark L. Pederson. I wanted to introduce myself....I'm the DMT on a commercial shooting here (in Vancouver) that will be onlining at OffHollywood. Looking forward to (albeit indirectly) working together!

I wouldnt hold your breath for FCS3 and WWDC... Snow Leopard just locked
API's in the BETA... i think FCS3 releases with Snow Leopard to fully demonstrate its potential...

i.e. August...

Have it been tested, or will it be tested, in an Quantel eQ/iQ environment? We have put an eQ upgrade on hold until RR is released. =)

EDIT: The more I read about it here and the more I read about the new Clipster box and the Perseus card that flameop linked to, the more certain I get that Parseus == RedRocket.

Thats My Concern..

What will Happen To Scratch Cine Now?
If RedCine will hace SDI out from RR and Realtime rendering and playback....Well i think that Scratch Cine will loose like 50% of Value...

Unless Scratch will have others benefit from the Card....or if They decide to don't let RedCien use the card...

Denan?

I think you guys truly misunderstand what Scratch is. Other systems and applications gaining RED support doesnt diminish Scratches value, it diminishes their competitive edge. Scratch existed as a product before RED and it will exist after RED.

We own a fully tricked out Scratch suite but as a facility owner, its my job to constantly evaluate what else is out there and I can tell you that what Scratch does, RED aside, is some pretty advanced shit. It's architecture is far and away more advanced than many of the very expensive turnkey systems out there and it's investment is miniscule compared to most of the other options.

What I can also tell you, is ScratchCine and a full Scratch is a very different product than RedCine. If you think you could pickup ScratchCine right away because you know RedCine youd be wrong. There is a great deal of depth in the higher end products that are necessary for running an actual pipeline. For a home user or a Red cam owner/operator it doesn't make sense. So a $5000 Red Rocket paired with AE, FCP, Color, whatever, is going to make a lot more sense. I just thought it was worth making the distinction between being able to access/work with Red footage in realtime VS access/work with red footage in realtime AND run a facility pipeline. Big difference between those two things... a difference I was unaware of until I started running a facility pipeline.

As much as I would love this, I'm not sure I agree... FCP is too focused a product for WWDC (my opinion). I have a feeling there will not be a ton of fanfare surrounding FCS3, just a quiet release later this summer.

Does the Red Rocket cure Cancer?

Got some big shit coming up so I'm looking forward to see this puppy in action.

:head_explode:

If Scratch works naivlyy from R3D... and is NOT using the Red-SDK... will they then not be able to use the RedRocket?

I hope (for them) that it will, otherwise Scratch goes from the best R3D-tool to the worse..
/Carl

Kalle...

Kalle...

I have heard that SCRATCH will support it, I hope to check that in our CUBE when we get one..... Great Native Support and Rocket Hyper Render
