  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

RED Pro Prime set FAQs

Orders for the Prime Sets will begin Wednesday at the REDuser Party. You will be able to order via Red.com.

There is a group of existing prime set reservations that we will honor first, then over the next week if you put in an order, the RPP's will be assigned in order of RED ONE serial numbers.

After the week is over (on April 29) Prime sets will be allocated in order your deposit is received, regardless of either existing prime reservation or RED ONE serial number.

Make sense?

So non RED one owners could get in line then, sure Jim would like some of my money!

Please note that I updated correct resolution specs at the beginning of this thread. Greater than 100 line PAIRS/mm at the center.

Jim

Very good rez specs. Just a few years ago only a few and very costly lenses resolved this well across the field.

Martin... you sound just like my accountant right before he tells me he needs to raise his fees. :-)

Brook... checking.

Jim

Actually Martin is not the only one, I log on daily in search of post by you, or even your simple words of inspiration. you are on this board a very humble and clever poster and responder.

Thanks for all the hard work

How is everyone planning to transport the RRPs around on jobs? One case, multiple cases?

very valid question. Is there going to be a case moulded like the Arri primes or an Oakley style case?

Any blow mold or hardcase manufacture can do up any type case you want with whatever closed cell or other foam or dividers you want. It's been that way forever.

This is true, but lately everything with the Red logo on it helps with price markups.

it takes 5 business days if i wire the money.

Hmmm...

Sony HDcam vs. RED One: On which one do you pay most for the logo, and which one gives you most pixels?

I don't know about you but when I show up on a shoot with the latest and newest equipment it justifies my high cost to the clients and producers. Simple as that. I live in LA business is business, its show business high-end brands demand high end pay checks, irrespective of creativity. Thats just how it is I just get in where I fit in.

the reason most studio films are hollow and suck is because they have high priced gadgets and every decision made is irrespective of creativity.

Back on topic... RED has blasted out the first email to those of us with RPP reservations. :) No juicy details yet.

i just got my email.

Can't believe Dreamhost spam filtering grabbed email from RED regarding RPP lens & moved it to spam. When I white list, nothing in inbox and can't find it in spam either. Seems they are having a big problem with their spam filtering tonight. Hopefully they fix it soon.
